My thought is this, how can I possibly hate an announcer more than Joe Theisman. He is positively annoying. Is he in love with Mcnabb? You have to wonder. Just in awe to be in the presence of a guy that went 8 for 19. Oh and I think Owens had nooooo catches even though he played the whole first half.

Thetre's no question ESPN is in love with McNabb

My thoughts on Philly havent changed...their defense stinks and is going to stink worse once the real games start...McNabb cannot throw with any sort of consistent accuracy...Owens will make some plays but also drop his share of balls...they dont have a running game to speak of

9-7 or 10-6 at best

Funny though, they have all these problems and will still end up with a winning record.

You have to give the devil his due.

I said best case scenario was 9-7 or 10-6...I cant see them having a 12-4 or 13-3 at all...it wouldnt be a shock to me if Philly misses the playoffs

I think I saw an article yesterday that was raving about the Feagles new corners. Where was Buckhalter?

They could miss the playoffs.

I agree on McNabb--Between him and Vick I don't know who gets more unrealistic hype.

I wouldn't count on that, Michael. Every year there is a few teams who succeed where they are expected to fail and vice versa. Recent examples are the Patriots of two years ago, the Titans of 2000, even the Bucs from last year. I think that the Eagles are poised for a huge implosion. We'll see what happens but they just might be 7-9 or 8-8.

Buckhalter is out for the yr. Jim Johnson is the best defensive coordinator in the NFL. Andy Reid is very good at hiding the offenses weaknesses. They'll win the division, but I'm not ready to proclaim them a SB team.

My opinion of the Eagles is that they have really ugly uniforms, and a head coach that really needs to be on a fitness program before he has a heart attack.

Run defense more than anything is suspect. I think that is how we beat them. Duce ate them alive and we will pound the ball at them.

I would love to see us line up LA at right tackle for that game and run the ball right down J Kearse throat. That would give me great pleasure!!

Donavan & TO will keep them in every game, they are going to have to score points though, because their corners and run defense look very average. The Pitt recievers did make some very nice receiptions.

Agreed, Michael -

The birds have a good coach and an excellent system and have been knocked out in the conference championships three years running, now and they're not any better this year than they were last year, overall. Yea, they have picked up a couple of high-visibility, high-motor players, but has that been enough to offset the loss of the experienced cornerbacks and the injuries to Kalu and their RB? Last year the Eagles overcame the adversity of a slow start, including an embarrassing loss to the 'Pokes, is this the year they shed the bridesmaid's veil and stride boldly up the aisle as the bride, or is this the year they don't even make it to the church?

Even if the birds are not as good as they were, are the 'Boys improved enough to make up the difference this year? I think maybe so.

TO may be a jerk, but he is a superb receiver and big and fast enough to make a difference; I think he'll vastly improve Philly's offense and will give McNabb someone he can play catch with when he is running around outside the pocket - that's when you really find out what playmakers are all about. Kearse will enliven their DL and be a vocal leader. The teams will be more evenly matched this year than in the last few years.

This season just keeps getting better.

They will win the NFC East and have an early exit from the playoffs.

Mcnabb will be most of their running game.

Good Fantasy pick-up.

I was in Atl the last two days and you would think Vick walks on water. Every sports radio show gushing over him.

I think its less that they are suspect....and more that they don't have a lot of depth there. You throw out 4 wr's..... that's a matchup problem for Philly, if you can stop their pass rush.

The Philly Corners are very suspect.......

The defense has been the corner stone of that team for the past 10 years.

And the 3 primary drivers behind the defense IMO have been:

(1) The Defensive Coordinator
(2) Bobby Taylor
(3) Troy Vincent

And 2 of the 3 are now gone.

Their defense has been predicated on suffocating single coverage bump and run on the outside by both Bobby and Vincent. They were the best CB duo IMO in the league over the last decade.

This allowed them to run a very aggressive style of defensive with 8 man fronts and heavy blitz packages.

It will be very interesting to see how they hold up now that 2 of the 3 conerstones are gone.

You don't easily replace Bobby and Vincent. Chances are good that Philly may never again have a tandem as good as those guys.
