Any way to test Mel Kiper?

I was wondering....is there any way to compare Mels final mock drafts of past years against how that years draft turned out?

It'd be interesting to see how they panned out.....

yeah. Look at his final mock draft and then compare it to that years draft.

I think a totally unbiased newsite rated all the "draft gurus" either last yr or the yr before last based on several seasons, and DMN's Rick Gosselin won by a substantial margin over everyone, including Kiper

Gosselin is a boob on his NFL columns, but his draft stuff is really good...he gets really good stuff from the people he talks to

I have a lot of old Kiper books....

Mostly, what I've seen is that he predicts the top end of the draft pretty well...and then somewhere around the first few picks of the second round, all hell breaks loose...

But that's what all of them are like...

For instance, NO ONE predicted that Blair Thomas or Tony Mandarich or Ryan Leaf would be busts...

The thing that I like about Kiper is that he does his homework...his reviews of players are pretty solid...and I think that's about the most you can expect from any draft review..

Forecasting the selection order is impossible...

It's better to look at their player rankings rather than the mock drafts.

Gosselin has been hitting on something like 96% of of top 100 players the past few years.
