On draft day there were some high hopes that Deon Anderson would challenge for the FB position.

So far (and its early, of course) all I've heard about him is that he ate a cricket and was afraid that Wade Phillips was going to punch him for being late to practice.

Anything else (anything positive on his on field performance so far)?

Hard to say at this point -- his calling card in college was ST -- and you really don't do much of that in camp. Those guys make the team in pre-season.

I've read that we'll likely keep 5 TEs/FBs - Hoyte seems to have won the starting FB spot at this point and Polite likely isn't really part of the competition since we can cut him and he'll likely stay unemployed. So his real competition is from 4th TE guys -- and I think whoever the 4th TE would be, it is someone who would have a better shot at making it to the PS than Anderson.

So I'd give him a strong chance of making the team.

Here's Jeff Ireland on Norms show a week ago, thnx to inmanroshi for recap:

Every team looks for a training camp surprise. Any of those kind of guys there?
If I were to say, I would have NFL scouts from all over looking into who they are. I do think our draft choices are playing well. I’m excited about Deon Anderson and Nick Folk. I’m waiting to see what Stanback can do. The UDFA are giving us good looks. The UDFA QB’s are looking good. I don’t think there are too many players out there who don’t belong.

What's he going to say? "I really wanted us to draft Anderson and Folk but they totally suck! I have no idea what I saw in them."

I agree with you Crazy, the guy just can't catch a football to save his life. Also, he has made some nice blocks, but I never saw him running other than with the 3rd team. He is suppose to be a good special teams player, so maybe that puts him over the top. But Hoyte is a pretty good ST player, and he is also doing a pretty good job catching the ball.
