Did anyone catch Emmitt Smith's post-game comments? All the other ESPN Cowboy haters went before him trashing the Cowboys in one form or another. Then in the end Emmitt spoke and said something like (I'm paraphrasing) "You know, I'm listening to all of you and I disagree in one respect; in that I finally saw a Dallas Cowboys team play with a lot of heart, and that is something I have not seen from this team before, and have been waiting to see from them. I finally saw that."

Emmitt was making the point that the 90s team always played with heart, and even though they would lose games here or there, it did not matter as long as they lost playing with heart, because they knew that if they played with heart good things would happen. He was saying that he finally saw that from these players against Pittsburgh and if it's something they can build on it can take them a long way and to the next level.

Here's to hoping that Emmitt is right, and that the team continues to play with and builds off of the same passion!

You cant get over what happened in the last 7 minutes of that game. As much heart as they may have played with, it was ripped out in the last 2 minutes and change. They didnt lose a close hard fought game. They lost a game they dominated most of the second half and it showed on the score board, only to fold in the end. Romo still has another chance to prove his critics wrong, but that's really up to him and it's up to the defense to see whether they have what it takes to perform against a legit offense this time.

yet last year when the Giants folded against the Patriots, everyone complimented them on how well they played and that they fought hard? How is that different for us?

Exactly how do these Steelers compare to the 07 Patriots? You completely lost me.

what does the strength of the opposition have to do with anything, it was a similar ending in a game where both teams were the underdog in an interconference game.

Yep, dcfanatic posted the video on his blog... Good stuff from the all-time leading rusher.

As enjoyable as it was watching #22 run over defenses, it's just as painful to watch him as a commentator on pre and post game shows. He is BAD. Worst mistake ESPN ever made was letting Michael Irvin go.

the giants were picked to finish last in the division and don't have nearly as much "talent" as we do. we were picked to go to the superbowl this season and have more "talent" than any other team in the league. seriously the crybaby routine over the media is getting old.

Just stop it. The Patriots were historically dominant, the Steelers have no offense. The statement was made about the Giants cause Eli finally had a great performance after looking trashy most the season while Romo looked trashy after looking great most of the season. There's no similarities. The Giants walked off that field feeling good in a game they didnt need to win. We walked off that field heartbroken in a game we needed to win.

To say that the Cowboys have not played with heart before this past game, isn't true, imho.

The Cowboys playing with no heart isn't the problem. The problem is that they too often make foolish mistakes. False starts, off sides, motion, formation, etc. Way too many mistakes that are due to a lack of concentration. JMO

True. Something else the Giants didnt do. They set a franchise record in fewest penalties in a season.

You lost all credibility with your dissing of Choice before the game. It will take awhile before you get it back with me. Your assessment of Romo is just as flawed.

I try not to, it's just a little too painful to watch him on TV.

But thanks for the recap and i do agree with him. As much as that loss left me numb and speechless, i did come away from it with a greater respect for the team, especially the defense.

They played a very physical game and hanged in there. They were getting banged up and players kept coming in and out of the game. But still they hanged in there. If it wasn't for the miscommunication between romo and his receivers, this would have been a great win.

I think in the loss, they proved that they are not soft. If they're getting in the playoffs they needed to get battle tested and that was a hell of a start and they have three more tough matchups left.

And this is suppose to make us feel better?

Yeah, they played with heart. But they still lost. And they lost because they made bonehead plays at the end.

Heart doesn't usurp mental toughness and smarts.

So they'll fight to the end and still end up losing because they aren't disciplined.

But at least they'll have heart.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but weren't the Giants already in the playoffs by then?

The Giants just used this game to assess the Patriots personnel and to get themselves mentally tough. But they had already clinched a playoff birth.

Meanwhile, we're fighting for one and having a great time patting ourselves on the back about how tough we played in a loss.

Yeah ...

You can tell this team is playing with heart out there, the back ups are giving their all, that's what counts!

Well there you go, you have spoken so I must stop it.

You do realize that telling me to stop it only guarantees I won't right?

Well technically, we were in the playoffs when we played too, were the sixth seed :D

I hardly think the Giants used the game to assess Patriot personnel, talk about revisionism. They wanted to end the winning streak and choked that away.

tell me though, why is it when we win a game we shouldn't have won, like Buffalo or Detroit, it is used to show we suck, but when we lose a game we shouldn't have lost, it still shows we suck?

If the final result is all that matters and not the process to get you to that final result, then why do people complain about the process when we win without panache?
