Anyone else bothered by Aikman these days?

Now that he no longer throws passes for my favorite team, he just plain bothers me nowadays.

Am I alone here?

He just seems like a know-it-all who goes out of his way to criticise Dallas these days.

I got the displeasure of meeting Troy one time at a celebrity golf tournament. One of the most disappointing moments of my life. Never judge a book by it's cover.

Actually, now that he's not wearing that star anymore, I tend to like him more. I think he's one of Fox's best analysts, and I think the majority of football fans agree with me. He actually gives his unbiased opinion when doing the Commanders Cowboys games, maybe thats why he's pissing you off. You guys kind of looked like garbage in the one he did last year...and when was the last time dallas had a playoff win? I think he may have been the quarterback. Not much to be too enthusiastic about.

He was never my favorite Cowboy QB and definetely NOT my favorite TV broadcaster. His voice just grates on me after a few quarters.......

I disagree with most of the people I guess. I thought he'd be a total bust as a broadcaster because he's well.... boring. But he's been a pleasant surprise. He does seem to be going out of his way to make sure nobody accuses him of being a Cowboy's homer, but I wouldn't call him a hater.

What happened? I'm always game for an anecdote.

Yeah, Qwickdraw, I have a feeling Troy really does want Dallas to win, but he's just being overly critical bc:

1. He's just a negative guy
2. He doesn't want the public to think he is a homer like Theismann

And "SantanaOwnsU", have you ever thought that his negative commentary is on target because you are infact a homer for the Commanders? And that last playoff win thing was a cheapshot. When was the last time the Commanders won a Super Bowl? Who was the QB, Brunell? I don't think so...

True, about the only thing that we have been enthusiastic about the past 7 years or so is our overwhelming domination of the Commanders. Losing to them twice last year barely put a dent in that dominating run. Thank you Danny.:suxskins:

I accepted him when he played for us but now that he is gone I can't stand him. I agree I think he is down on everything and I get the impression his dad was real tough on everyone around him. I sense this because my house was the same way growing up. I can just tell in interviews when he is talking about him. I guess it's kind of like an alcoholic knows who is drunk because you have been through it.

I am not gonna ramble but it is not hard to see he is an awesome person.

irvin88 please share the story because up to this point I have had a gut feeling. Now I have heard stories fro people who work at his dealerships.

Awww. Poor baby. What's the matter? Did he disagree with the TO signing or something? Well, he's in good company.

He actually owns a huge autoplex kinda thing. Chevy, Ford, Chrysler, Dodge...

My dad's in the car business and has been to his dealerships many times.

One thing about Troy is that it seems like he goes out of the way to be negative about the 'boys, and doesn't seem to ever give them props.

I think Daryl "The Moose" Johnston is a much better broadcaster. He's critical when he should be but praises when it's deserved. Troy never praises.

I think I remember last year Lousaka Polite reached for the pylon and it could have been a touchdown but he was downed at the one, and Daryl went "OH come on you gotta give it to him!"

No, it was Mark Rypien in 1992. Joe Gibbs was our coach though, just like he was in 83 and 88...here's hoping that its Brunell/Gibbs in Superbowl XLI...;)
And I don't think it takes a Commanders homer to notice his good work in the booth, who do you like better at Fox? Moose? (he's actually decent, but his broadcasting team is terrible). I think Aikman is generally on point, I sense a little hatred coming from you guys because he's not homerish enough, a la Theisman. Its going to be great listening to him and Kornheiser in the MNF booth, maybe thats what it takes for us to get some media love, put 2 Washingtonians in the booth...I wish Wilbon was up there too. But good luck next season, hope that playoff win drought clears up for ya...our drought ended last season, get used to Aikman's criticisms when he does Skins vs. boys this season. :D

he's been an annoyance since the late 1990s really. as an analyst i can't stand him... maybe if he didn't play for us i'd have a different opinion (or if we had a great team to shut up the analysts).

He rarely says anything postive about the boys. There were a few games last year where some big plays were made that were worth mentioning.

I will never forget the first Eagle game when we blew them out. Troy didn't know what to say and pretty much kept his mouth shut the whole game except when Philly ran the INT back. You think I am making it up? I challenge you to watch the game again.

We looked like garbage in the blowout loss to you guys but we played tough all year fighting our hearts out.

Don't bring up the past either because when comparing success you guys might as well be in NFL Europe because you don't come close to measuring up to the Cowboys.

To use last years playoff win as justification to rip on Dallas is hilarious. Those two games you guys played in was two of the worst performances in playoff history.

I think its tough love. He wants you guys to be better, he thinks highly of the cowboys, so he gives his unbiased opinion about some of your roster moves that he disagrees with and probably gets just as mad as any of us do when our team is losing. You've got to admit, since aikman left - the last of the triplets - other than beating up on the skins every season (except last year's SWEEEEEEEEEEP) there hasn't been much to be excited about. Its been the same for us for a longer time, how about the entire tenure of Norv (thats what we get for getting a stinking cowboy), Shottenheimer, and the Ole' Ball Coach. The 2nd coming of Gibbs has got everyone thinking big in DC again...its been a long time coming, maybe T.O. can get some excitement back in big D.

A win is a win. If we had more than one reciever we might have gotten it done against the Seahawks...we handled them earlier in the season. Jimmy Farris and Taylor Jacobs wern't scaring anyone out there. When 2 o-linemen went down we were beat. We had our backup center playing gaurd when Ray Brown went down. Our D won the game against the Bucs, but Portis came up with some big runs. You've got to admit, with our offseason moves and the core group we have coming back on both sides of the ball, we're a legitimate contender.
