Anyone else just confused?

That’s what mediocre teams and mediocre QBs do. Everyone in the NFL has ability. Consistency is the differentiator.

I mean, Dak looked very good today, O was clicking, EZ was beastly.

WTH?

Is Dak developing, or is he just this on and off?

Our D was decent. Not great by any means, but decent. Our O carried the day.

What are we? What do we expect next week?

Seriously, I'm confused. Where y'all at?
I only watched the highlights. This is the Dak I remembered. I feel the coaches din't trust him. After this performance I can't see how we don't attack down field from here on out.

Dak is a bus driver best suited as Justin Herberts backup. We have Fredbeard out and are starting an undersized rookie guard. We have a poor receiving core. We are a 6-10 team who if we are smart would find a way to loose 2 more games so we can draft a real QB without having to use a lot of draft capital trading up. We are in QB hell. and will remain in QB hell for years most likely. We beat the lowly Lion's who have the worst rushing defense in the league. We beat the lowly Giants that are worse than the lowly Lions. We have a long long season ahead of us.

Didn't read each post but it's pretty clear to me, this team functions over the years...good week, bad week...good week, bad week. 1 horrible game, make changes throw downfield,,,use Zeke more, yadda yadda. Next game win, all is good. The following week go back to the old ways (last week) and we look awful. This week they vow to use Zeke, go downfield and mix things up..they play better.

Next game time will tell if they keep evolving, or fall back to old ways. We all know what the outcome has been in the past..

If you like, have at it. I'm more interested in assessment and evaluation.
Absolutely, stout peasant lad!
The winnowing of the average, ahem, WRs.
Also, what is up with the decision to get Elliott (if well) the pass?
I love it. Much love to that emerging component of our O!
Too, what if Dak's running and maybe Zeke and Beasely as targets?
Worth a try, ey, mates?

The protection was there today. Made a huge difference!
Dak has had protection all season. Coming into this week he was 3rd in snap to release time.

Such a stupid narrative. Dak has been awful leading up to today. It wasn't the O line.

Dak was never that bad in the first place.

Don't judge a quarterback based on perfect protection.

Any quarterback who makes it to the NFL should be able to complete passes given great protection.
Heck, Lamar Jackson can completely passes with a perfect pocket.
You judge a quarterback on how he handles pressure. Does he step up in the pocket? Can he fit balls into narrow spaces when a defender is draped on top of a receiver? Is he consistently accurate? Can he lead his offense into the end zone? Can he scan his entire route tree or does he look at his first two receivers then bolt if they're not open? Can he throw short, medium and deep balls? Can he throw his receivers open? Do you trust him if you need that game-clinching touchdown?
Unfortunately, Dak can't do all of that yet? He still scrambles into sacks. He doesn't step up in the pocket. He still short hops balls. He misses wide open receivers.
Sure, when he has time in the pocket he can complete passes. But I don't know if he'll ever be on the level of other great Cowboys quarterbacks.

Furthermore, we STILL only scored two touchdowns today. (Yeah, yeah, I know Tavon Austin missed a sure touchdown. But the final results were two touchdowns from this offense and three field goals.) So the first game against Carolina, we score 1 TD. In the game against the Giants, we score 2 TDs. In the game against Seattle, we score 1 TD. And this game we score 2 TDs. In one game, Mitch Freaking Trubiski totaled our TD output for the season. Sorry, that may be good enough to beat the Lions. It's not going to beat the Texans and the Jaguars and the Falcons and the Saints and the Eagles scoring just 2 TDs.

We need more production from the offense. We won't beat the teams we need to beat to advance to the playoffs and beyond if we continue to simply ride Zeke. If teams commit to taking him out of the game, Dak MUST step up and deliver because you know that's what's going to happen.

So I'll give Dak an Alex Smith clap. Good job, for today. Way to manage the game.

he played the best he can with little to no pressure. when pressured his vision is very bad. hopefully the next game we play that he's pressured, he can play like today. I guess Detroit's defense coordinator did not read the game plan on shutting Dak down. [or wasn't able to apply pressure] I give it to him he played well today.

Years of historical evidence suggests Dallas will not be able to string wins together. They will come out flat next week and lose a close game. A bad detroit team just came in to our house and almost won a game that we dominated. 8-8.

I think Dak is a backup quarterback....i wouldnt expect much consistency from him

Are you joking? Dak was sacked 11 times in 3 games...tied for 6th in the league. He's been pressured, knocked down, etc, etc on a ridiculous amount of plays those first 3 games. The big difference today was absolutely the protection he got. For almost 11 straight games our o-line had been playing very poor and it correlates to the entire offense...doesn't surprise me one bit they had a decent game and then so does the offense.
4th highest time to throw in the NFL bud.... just cant pull the trigger and holds onto the ball hence why he gets sacked.

This week.
31 rushes by running backs. 25 by Zeke. Only 27 passes for Dak.
Zeke makes a big catch for the winner.
Gallup almost gave up an INT. Dak almost lost a fumble. Zeke almost lost a fumble.
Gallup two targets deep, one to Beasley. None connect.
Playing ahead most of the game.

Last week.
16 runs for Zeke. I think only 20 total.
Zeke steps out of bounds and we lose a td.
Zeke fumbles. Gallup gives up the INT. Dak throws one into coverage for an INT.
Gallup gets a deep ball.
Playing behind most of the game.

We ran the ball. Turnovers bounced our way instead of against us. We connected on some deep plays. Playing ahead instead of playing behind.

Daks issues dialed down, but still visible. Situation just a lot more favorable around him.

Dak was never that bad in the first place.

I remember his rookie year and posting that he was really inconsistent for a half and then turned it around. I would get a dozen posts calling me a hater.

Now you get a dozen posts calling you a homer if you even believe he will be our starter next year.
