Anyone else just confused?

The Cowboys ran over a crappy run defense. And won a close game. Both of these teams are pretenders till they go out and beat several good to very good teams. Check back in when the Cowboys face Jags, Philly, Atlanta, New Orleans, and possibly Washington.
Philly is 2 drop passes from being 0-4, Atlanta is 1-3, Dak has never lost to Washington, saints almost lost at home to the browns and Jags aren't as dominate as some like to think. None of these teams are just above and beyond every other team

Yep it a long season and real Cowboy fans could do without you Romo freaks trying your best to make even the wins a miserable experience .
It's like they are so disappointed we won because they were denied the chance to yell at the clouds, "see I Told you Dak sucked" Now they have to wait another week to unload the full fury of how bad a player played so they can get a little satisfaction for being right for at least one week.

Hurns, Gallup, Rico, Austin, Swaim...they weren’t supposed to start out on the same page with a QB who barely played preseason.

A rookie and a backup on the OL.

They have potential for improvement.

IMO that over the shoulder toss to Zeke was more than a wrinkle. If Zeke can turn into that kind of threat...holy cheez whiz.

Dak can run that RPO, run designed QB run plays and scramble. This offense could come very creative and hard to defend.

Just not sure we have the coaching staff for it.
Exactly, there were plenty of encouraging signs. Just need to expand upon what worked and get some more consistency.

I mean, Dak looked very good today, O was clicking, EZ was beastly.

WTH?

Is Dak developing, or is he just this on and off?

Our D was decent. Not great by any means, but decent. Our O carried the day.

What are we? What do we expect next week?

Seriously, I'm confused. Where y'all at?
Detroit has one of, if not the worst run defense in the league. That's the explanation.

One of the explanations I have about this team and how it’s perceived by fans is this:
Too many fans look at individual players like Dak, Zeke or Tank Lawrence, and think winning is all about individual performances. How individuals play is the key to winning. But that’s only partially true.

For example, Dak is a good QB but he is not a gunslinger like Pat Mahomes or Aaron Rodgers. The key for Dak to be successful is the team around him. A good running game helps Dak be more effective because he is never going to be a dart throwing, dime dropping gunslinger.

Too many on these boards expect Dak to be something he isn’t. He is a decent passer, who can also run the ball, is smart and doesn’t force too many stupid throws. Again, Dak is a good QB that can help a team that knows how to use him properly.

Winning is about how well you understand yourself as a team and then how well you execute as a team. This team is not built to depend on a 300 yard passing day from its QB to win. It needs to have a good running game that can make the defense defend the run, which in turn opens the passing game. If the running game isn’t there, Dak is exposed. It’s that simple.

TEAMS win football games, not individuals. In order for this team to win a lot of games, the coaches must continue to game plan around this team’s strengths while adding some creativity. The players must execute consistently within their team concept.

But...we must always remember- what you see one week doesn’t guarantee it for the next week.
To this point, the Seahawks of a few years ago should be the template that the Cowboys should be going for. Russell Wilson is now a better QB than dak, but when they won their super bowl he wasn't that dissimilar to where dak is today, and we have a great running back like they did, a better OL, so really we need to continue developing the defense and try to emulate that template.

Or draft a greater QB.

We played a lions team that historically is a terrible run defense team and we just barely beat them at home. People saying why don't we feed Zeke more, well teams that have a half decent front 7 are not going to let Zeke do that to them.

The success of the season comes down to Dak and the receivers making plays to stop defenses from loading the box and unfortunately our passing game is terrible. Whether you think Dak is the problem or its the guys catching the ball it doesnt really matter, its clear we are not good enough. Enjoy the win for sure, but my view on how good this team can be this year has gone down a lot.

Then there should be zero excuses to not beat each and every one of those teams handily. This idea that each team is just as good is ridiculous. The cream eventually rises every season, and the Cowboys record against teams that are 6 wins or less vs 10 wins or more is almost completely inverse during Garrett's years as hc.

They are basically even with the 7-9 to 9-7 teams, which makes sense. The team makes sure to beat every single bottom feeder they face because it gives deluded fans something to get excited about.

The good teams will typically get everything in order by about the 10th week. I said before this game I expected the team to run right over the Lions. I predict the same against a bad Texans team in Houston next week. Good run defenses highlight this team's struggles to consistently move the ball without exploding in the run game.

We had just about everything go right offensively and it took a game winning field goal for us to win.

Zeke getting 88 yards receiving would be a hard thing to rely on.

I agree.

If Dez were still here I would feel better because of all of the 1 on 1 shots down the sideline this offense wants to take but we just don’t have the guy to capitalize.

I just wish we had adult-only threads so we could have discussions w/o the stupid childishness.
Yep it sad there like a bunch of little birds all screaming Dak sucks at once . you cant even talk football . They are not Cowboy fans just fans of there own predictions. When the predictions come up false they scramble to come up with excuses and try to ruin the win for us real Cowboy fans

Crazy they would rather be right than admit there was any progress and enjoy the win . I have no mercy on them might as well be Eagles fans to me . Because they are not Cowboys fans . They ruin any kind of sensible football discussion with there hatred towards Dak and inability to see any of the other contributing factors limiting our offense

weak defense and Zeke ran great, as soon as they see a good D again the same problems will reappear. Shut down Zeke and T off on Zak and the offense folds.

I'm not sure the OL was that much different. Looked to me as if Dak was getting rid of the ball better and sooner.

Trust me, the OL was better........see Zeke numbers. You could have run through a few of those holes.

i think many are like this. i honestly expected detroit to not score so quickly, but still score to not give us time to come back. when we had time, i kept waiting for the impending doom of a turnover, failed 4th down conversion and the like. when the kick went through and it sank in we won, i honestly didn't know what to feel. happy we won, but what's next? we can't seem to be consistent and that's our biggest issue anymore.

our first 3 games were pretty much apathy in motion. won 1 but it wasn't pretty. lost 2 and they weren't pretty either as we were never really in them. while yesterdays win was very nice and showed a lot of heart, the last decade has kept me from optimism i'd like to be feeling right now. i can see us going 8-8 and the good ship almost-average will keep on sailing another year. garrett and co has always been able to turn in good games and occasionally a good season.

but consistency is still the issue.

because of that my optimism is guarded and i'm working to keep my "hope" in check for awhile i suppose. i don't want to be a downer to those happy we won and *do* keep that hope alive. i want to be wrong. it's just gonna take awhile for me to get there from where i am today.

but whatever happens, kudos to zeke. that was one amazing day in any book.

Bingo... This is exactly what it is...

The OL had a much better game, particularly with run blocking. Some of the holes I could have run through.
