Anyone else worried about our lack of depth at RDE?

Now that Randy Gregory has been suspended and DeMarcus Lawrence is struggling with a back injury, does anyone have visions of the 2014 playoff loss to Green Bay with Rodgers just standing back there with no edge pressure at all? Remember we also lost Ryan Davis and Zak Moore when they were placed on waivers. I just hate having to use Jack Crawford and Kyle Wilber at RDE in a big game.

Gregory has not played enough outside the last 2 game to miss him. I am concerned with pass rush but no more now than before the news came down on Gregory

Gotta hope Irving (4 sacks), Collins (5 sacks) and Mayowa (6 sacks) continue to ball. Right now, those three are the best pass rushers we have going into the playoffs. Would love to see DLaw step up and go into beast mode like DWare did last year in the playoffs.

The nice thing about not having a lot of impact players on the DL is that when you lose a few, you just replace them with some other non-impact players and soldier on. With Crawford, Crawford, Irving, Mayowa, and Lawrence, we're going to get steady, unspectacular DE play through the playoffs. Unless of course Irving continues his trajectory, in which case we'll get a little boost.

I'm concerned, but we're not going to get much better than Mayowa/Lawrence at this point. (also Jack Crawford?).

Fortunately there are no elite LTs in the playoffs except for our guy, and frankly there are some pretty bad ones like Ereck Flowers.

Just gotta keep our fingers crossed.

The Seahawks would be a dream to go against with their power forwards playing tackle. A game against them would look like the Bucs game.

Im kind of disappointed we got nothing from Tapper.

We could use him right now.

Maybe the guy from Miami that got cut can come in and give us some game reps.

Jason Jones is available. Dolphins fans on sbnation said he was a decent rotation piece. Would be fine with a veteran body for this playoff run.

Mayowa will look all-pro against flowers

Every time we play them lots of you guys pop off about their oline...then we usually don't get to Eli enough to win. That said, the last game we lost to them was completely on our O; who got shut down. All that said, if we can't get to the SOB this time then we have NO excuse at all. We've got the extra rest, Dlinemen getting healhty and home field for crying out loud. GBay is a different issue because their OLineis pretty darn solid. (but their DB's are mangled) Polar opposite of the Gspots.

IIRC Eli averages holding the ball for 2 seconds which makes it difficult to sack him.

I know but if our DB's can't cover for longer than 2 seconds then we don't deserve to win IMO. Shepard, ODB and Cruz are a very good trio but I'd pay big money to see Church or Wilcox jump a slant route and knock on those runts the hell OUT. I realize ODB took one to the house last game but someone missed a tackle, I can't remember whom and we had quite a few guys on D out hurt. Meh, might not even play them. But I have a feeling.....

Teams tend to play off coverage on ODB to avoid getting beat deep but that opens up the short throws.

Maybe they'll use the 3-2-6 some more.

No, I didn't forget about him but he needs to be rotated in and out to be effective. If Lawrence can't go who spells Mayowa?
That rest theory is absolute crap, you might give them a rest for a play or two but in the playoffs all DL starters play from start to finish.

I'm concerned to be sure but it does appear we will be obliged to "dance" with the team that brought us to this point. Let's see what comes of it. Nothing is so good or so bad that it couldn't be a little bit better or a little bit worse. For now, the Cowboys are what they are.

Hopefully, next year we may field an even more talented defense and quite possibly, even more success. Even the most critical of us would have to admit we've been pretty doggone fortunate this year, all things considered. Let's just hop upon this horse and ride it, shall we?

That RDE spot can be a problem if Lawrence can't be effective. But the overall talent level of the DL is soooo much better than what we trotted out in GB 2 years ago. The difference at DT is immeasurable. Also T.Crawford at SDE is a better player than Mincey. And of course the joker in the deck, David Irving.
