NFL.com is following this year's draft order and reviewing each team's biggest draft hits and misses, one at a time.

Detroit is the team they are currently reviewing.:laugh2:

You can imagine the Hugh Millen era. You can not dream up some of those busts.

Matt Millen is the best argument possible for the idea that going BPA above all else is stupid.

Because he truly did do BPA regardless of need or anything else. Rogers and Tron and the others were at the top of the Draft Board for the Lions. And he went each time with that BPA.

BPA in an area of need is the best compromise you can probably stick to.

With the idea of trying to trade down if none of them are in that area of need.

Oh, Dallas' turn will come.

Anyway...this is HITS and MISSES. Not just misses.

Matt Millen had 2-3 early 1st round busts that all trump anything Dallas ever had. I guess dallas has rarely drafted in the top 3 , so it's hard to compare.
It was more Matt Millen specific. Detroit has had plenty of good picks.

Otherwise, the thread is more of an ongoing informative thing.

BTW, I disagree that Millen as an example against BPA. If anything they guy kept trying to fill his team's need at to get two WRs...but kept failing.

due tell which NFL hits on every draft? you can laugh at another team, because they will be laughing back and everyone no matter the analysist they think they are, no matter if they THINK they can make it a science, everyone agrees "its a crap shoot" because they are so many factors in play.

That's right. It's harmless fun to be entertained by previous drafts--both good and bad--by all teams including Dallas.
It can even be educational. You can certainly find patterns.
It's not a total crap shoot, as you know. I mean the odds are very high of finding a solid contributor in Rd1 vs Rd 7. If a GM repeatedly misses in round one--when the odds are stacked in your favor--it is a bit unusual. And if they are finding people every year inthe late rounds, the same can be said.
This is not life and death. We are not condemning someone to Hades.
We need to lightern up around here sometimes and not take ourselves so seriously.
