do you like them?

i've read where some people complain that they are hot especially during the summer.

can you recommend a good mattress?

i'm 41 now and i'm ready to sleep on a really good mattress.

i've never wanted to spend a couple grand on a damn mattress but maybe it's time.

my wife and i both have bad lower back problems.

I don't have one but I spent a week at a friends house out of town last summer and they had them in every room. That was probably the best sleep I got in years. Extremely comfortable. I'm a very light sleeper and don't usually sleep well, but I slept through the night every night I was there. If I could afford it, I'd get one and not think twice about the price. I'm sure if cotton sheets were on it, they would have been hot, cuz thats what they said, but they had satin and silk bedding on them for the summer and I'm sure that is what kept them cool and comfy.

thank you cp..

i neglected to tell why i asked about them to begin with and this is no joke:

i tested one at a store a couple months ago and my back cracked in three places as i lay on it.

it felt as if my spine was getting adjusted by a chiropractor.

then i looked at the 2400 price tag and could not believe my eyes.

I had heard that "doing other activities" was a little more difficult on those types of mattresses.

My back did the same thing the first night. I don't have a bad back, but I did break my lower back and neck in my early twenties in a car accident and to this day my back feels tired sometimes and I have to get an adjustment. That mattress really supported my back and whole body in general. I felt refreshed every morning and I felt very awake and full of energy. I guess my body was so comfortable in that bed that I slept deeper than usual. Now I'm wanting one again... thanks so much.. LOL :D

Like I said... If I could afford one, I'd get one. I think they are worth every penny. And my friends are still in love with them a yr after getting them

I had one for a couple years. It started out that I loved the thing, but then it really wore on me. When you first get in it, you sink in, and it forms to your body, but then it becomes somewhat hard. I'm not talking about it getting old, or worn out, It just really wore me down. I wanted to melt into a soft bed, not a hard one.
Its very hard to explain, how you can sink into it, yet it is hard. All I can tell you is that after a year or so, I had to get rid of it, and I went and bought the softest, bed I could find. It ran be about 4 or 5K, so it wasn't cheap, but I love the thing. I've had it for about 2 years now, and everytime I lay down in it, I just go "Ahhhhhh"....

Wow. This really brought back memories. I did the exact same thing when I first laid down on it. It felt as though a chiropracter was stretching my spine, and everything was aligned, and I fell in love with it.

But something happened after a while, where I just couldn't deal with it anymore. I would wake up in the middle of the night, and it felt like I was on a rock.

Oh, one more thing.... I never once got "hot" in it. That just doesn't happen. And I could get hot in a blizzard as I'm pretty warm blooded.

I don't mean to sway you on the purchase though Lane. Some people swear by them. And my wife never had a problem with it. I just didn't like it after a year, thats all.

I still have it, its in one of my spare bedrooms, just laying on the floor. We can work something out if you want it !! You live in Dallas?

Depends on who you ask... :D

Well maybe if people just like "lying" there that's good for them. I think there should be more variety than that.

That's really a matter of going to a store and lying on all of them and seeing what YOU like. I own a Serta Perfectsleeper but am ready for another one. Its a firm mattress but has a soft pillowtop to take the edge off.

Strange story: When I went to a furniture store, a Russian or possible Ukranian lady came up to me and said that she would be my saleslady. She looked kind of like that Ukranian figure skater, Oksana Baiul or however you spell it. I told her I was concerned about getting a mattress that was firm but wouldn't disturb the other person when you rolled over or moved. At that point with broken English, she jumped up on the mattress on all fours and bounced up and down excitedly stating, "I jump! I jump!" to show me the movement of the mattress.

Exactly! Asking the more mobile would probably get a different answer

you can do other activities on them, and not spill your drink that you set on the mattress

Needing enough spring to get hangtime?

OP, I slept on one for a week or so and it was alright. Slept pretty well but I did get hot.

I'm not sure but I think that most of them come with a frame of some sort that allows for better air circulation to prevent getting hot.
