Looking to take the family for the first time in Oxnard Ca next week. Anyone have any tips or recommendations? I checked the practice schedule and it is from 4pm-practice on the days we will be there. Do we take our own chairs? How early should we get there? Etc etc. I have a ton of questions. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Non VIP area there is a fenced in area closest to one of the 2 fields that's standing area only. behind that there are bleacher seats. Don't think you'd need to bring your own chairs. I never have. If I remember they let you into the parking and concession area 2 hours before practice. line starts forming to the parking lot early. If you go during a weekday it definitely not as bad if you were to go on the weekend.

I just posted this in another thread, but what about going to the scrimmages? Specifically looking at the one on the 28th. Any specific advice for that too?

saw your post in the other thread. have never been there when they had a scrimmage. parking is the only thing you would have to pay for.

Thanks for replies. I am taking my wife and 8 and 12 year old boys. Is there usually plenty of bleacher seating area? Is the view good? I know they won't want to stand and my little one wouldn't be able to see anyway in standing area. Thanks in advance.

If you don't mind walking just find a street spot in Oxnard where it's legal to park (don't worry everyone will have signs out where its illegal telling you to get lost)

If it's a busy day (weekend or when a scrimmage is scheduled) get there early or risk being turned away.

There is a lot of bleacher seating (few thousand I'd guess). No the view is not good. Again get there early.

Honestly it's overall kind of a boring experience outside of the fact that you're seeing the team in person.

Yeah get there early. bleacher seating isn't that bad, it's up just a little bit higher that the ones standing but not by much. but most of the die hard fans are in the standing area.

Your 2 boys will be able to stand in the line that only children get to stand in line for to get autographs from the players as they walk out to the field. In 2006, my then 11 yo son was in line and after the players came out, he came over to where I was standing. He was telling me how Drew Bledsoe picked up a little girl to take a photo with. I asked him if he got any autographs. He said only one. Showed me the football and it was signed by Tony Romo. He tells me "Dad who is that." I told him "the back up QB that might never see the field unless Bledsoe gets hurt." Well we know what happened the rest of the '06 season.

Get there 30 minutes before practice starts. An hour would be better.

There is standing room between the fence and bleachers, and everyone ignores the signs that clearly say not to stand at the fence.

Awesome story. Is there shade at all? Again I'm asking more for my wife and 2 boys. Is stand out in the blazing sun to watch but want to insure their comfort. Just noticed that schedule says practice 4pm on days we wanna go. So should get there around 2-3? Lastly how long is practice?

The bleacher area is shaded by a canopy. there's a few trees in the standing area but they don't provide too much shade. practice is only a couple hours long. The new CBA preventing 2 a days make training camp suck if your out there for only a day. Getting there around 2 or 3 is good.

Had no idea on weather. Thanks!

So those that have been to it, is it overall a good experience? One person said the view isn't good from the bleachers. Would hate to drive down there and not be able to see anything.

Percy , you said you couldn't see much from first row in end zone. Any reason you didn't move up? Or was it took full?

Just get there really, really early. SoCal is right, 2 hours early isn't an exaggeration.

You can see everything, it's just not a great view. i.e. the bleachers are 6' high at most, and they are under a canopy. There is a chain link fence and a bunch of standing room fans in front of you, and a decent amount of obstructions. So your angle of view isn't great and it's tough to get the big picture, but as long as something is happening near you focusing on that is fine.

I have been a few times and going this Sunday.

Question to those in the know.....is there any other place to park besides in the allotted parking lot? I don't mind walking a bit to get to the camp but trying to get in and out(especially) is a major pain.

I do not want to get towed if I try somewhere else :(
