The NBA 2K League (NBA2KL) is an eSports league between the National Basketball Associationand NBA 2K. The league was announced on May 4, 2017, along with announcing that 17 of the 30 NBA teams would own their own NBA 2K League team beginning in 2018.[1] The inaugural season will begin in May 2018.

Qualifying[edit]
For the inaugural season, the qualifying stage is open to anyone who is 18+ years old with NBA 2K18 on either Playstation 4 or Xbox One. To qualify, players must win 50 games in NBA 2K18's Pro-Am mode and submit an application following this requirement between January 1–31, 2018. The top 102 players will then be identified for a draft in March where each team will select 5 players.[2]
Format[edit]
The inaugural season will begin in May 2018 and conclude in August.[3] Games will include 5 on 5 matches and players will not be using their own MyPlayer, but instead will be given a MyPlayer with a rating around 90. A special build of NBA 2K18 will be used for the league and the console that will be used is still to be determined. The quarter length has not officially been decided, but currently the favorite is 6 minute quarters like Pro-Am.[2] For the first season, all games will be played in one or two central stations.[3]
