Anyone notice Witten played a lot better with Orton

Not counting the one int he caused. He looked like the Witten of old. He was never good with RAC. Why do you think this is? Playing harder? Orton going to him more?

Lot of double-coverage on Dez and Orton wanting to get the ball out fast. Notice that early on at least, he was also dumping it off quickly to Murray.

I truly believe that Witten could have easily had another 100-reception season if Dallas chose that approach each game, but that would have probably meant less throws toward Dez more than anything else.

Because we ran seam routes, and Orton has the arm to hit him downfield.

People might say that's not knocking Romo. But it's an honest assessment.

It's an honest opinion. As an assessment it lacks much assessing.

How about Witten is a good player period regardless who is at QB? That's a testament to Wit as a player.

Completely agree. Witten gave his all just like he usually does. OP is fishing and doesn't want to admit it. If not, another poster was correct that the OP is just a ball watcher.

I don't think he was any better, it was probably the game plan, look at DEZ if DEZ is covered throw to witten. Get rid of the ball quickly. I don't believe Orton can wait on plays to develop like romo. Either way I wish they had another game so we could analyze some more

He did play well, but we need to stop throwing the two yard play to him on 3rd and long.

And hate to break up this Witten love in..

..but the one really bad play he made that ultimately cost the game..

..was the pass Witten didn't catch that went thru his hands right to theDB..

2 plays later they score and take the lead and eventually..

the win.

I watched that play several times and I thought Witten was slow in reacting..

and definitely should have made more of an effort to fight the pass being off target.

He should have done something..

2 plays later they score..

..game was over.

Witten had another good season for us. I don't see how this past game was anything different because Orton was throwing ball.

He cost us the game with the INT that bounced off of him. I don't care about stats. These core veteran players need to step up in big games.

Why would this thread be a shot at Romo? Witten has been his safety blanket for years.

Certain people get wildly offended anytime they even perceive any slight against their favorite player.

The same certain people who would rather see Romo succeed even if it was to the detriment of the Cowboys as a whole.

Best to just pay them no mind..

It shouldn't be a surprise that a security blanket type player does well with a backup QB.

For one they gave him decent routes to run. I don't know why they don't go down field wiht their tight ends more. Hanna too. They give Hanna little 2 yard routes to run and I guess expect him to break tackles.

But let's be honest on Witten. He felt like he was the reason for that interception and he came back with a vengeance to make up for it.

It does get at the difference between Romo and Orton (and Kitna when he was here). Some argued Kitna should have stayed the starter when he had to play for Romo but simply looking at the distribution of passes explained why it was never even a thought internally.

Kitna threw primarily to the TE's and RB's whereas Romo throw more to the WR's. The less talented QBs will throw more to the TE's and RB's and I suspect this is what you were observing with Orton, which made it appear that Witten suddenly had a better game with Orton.

I think Witten tried to step up, that aside, i still stand by my statement, Witten no longer starts games.

And you'll still stand by looking silly with that statement.

Folks said the same thing a year ago when he caught over 100 passes.

They've been saying that for 3-4 years now. They're just waiting for the day when the guy really can't play so that they can say "See...I told you." On that day it will make them look even more foolish but they'll be too busy flexing their internet muscles to notice they only had to say it for 6 or 7 years before they got it right.

Romo has hit Witten on tons of seams routes over the years, including this year. The big difference Sunday was they let Witten run more routes that weren't those stupid 2-3 yard outs and crap. He was called upon to run far better routes. I'm hoping the clowns on this coaching staff take notice of what he was doing with those routes Sunday and next year run him on them a lot more.

Also a big part of that was Witten trying to make up for the INT he caused. You could tell he stepped his game up and played angry after he made that mistake.

Witten looked like Witten.

He's a future HoF and I've a feeling he'd look good no matter who was throwing him the ball.

If Romo succeeds isn't that good for the Cowboys? Not sure where you're going with this statement.
