Anyone seen the shot Time Warner took at NFL Network?

Then why did you say that neither side budging is a problem? What is the "problem" with neither side budging?

I'm quite familiar with the conversation. I just don't see what the problem is.
I don't think there is a problem other than people placing blame on one side and not the other. I think the market will work itself out just fine.

I don't like the idea of Jerry and Co. going to the government, though, unless it's to enforce their rights.

I just go by your posts Ogt, and you always mention 2 things, both of which have been proven wrong. You didnt talk about money until your argument started crumbling
No, I haven't always talked about just two things. You may have only noticed those two things, but my argument has always been the same.

It's real. The guy who posted it isn't usually one to post BS. And at least 2 others saw it on their Time Warner as well.

And I can see it both ways. I don't see why Time Warner should be forced to make NFL Network a base channel. Then everyone has to pay for it whether they want it or not. I think the NFL should take a one year deal to get it part of the Sports Pak and then negotiate from there. If a ton of people sign up for it like they think will happen, they can get TWC to put it in the base package.

We all pay for a ton of channels that we dont want now anyway, I know I do (shopping networks, religious channels, CNN, spanish channels, Life, BET, TLC, Animal, CSPAN, Court, etc, etc, etc). Hell out of the 200 channels I have I may watch 20 of them. I dont blame the NFL for wanting to be part of the base package, the NFL network would be more popular then a ton of channels already on the regular package including the Golf channel and VS. The NFL would lose a ton of ad revenue by being on the sports tier due to the fact that there would be a lot less viewers on the channel.

Cable is a total racket, the fact is that there are a ton of channels that wouldnt exist if cable companies didnt make us pay for stuff we didnt have any interest in watching.

Some people erroneously think this conversation began in this thread. It didn't. Nor will it likely end in this thread.

I'm a distant fan so Sunday Ticket is a requirement for me, but let me ask you a couple of questions.

Do you like HD programming? Do you find yourself switching to an HD channel because it's just better to watch?

If you answered yes then DirecTV has a better product because it offers more HD channels than any other source right now. DirecTV has 64 full time national or regional HD channels and 24 part time channels. Many of these channels are sports oriented. This doesn't include the local HD channels for most metropolitan areas. I also didn't include the distant national network feeds in my count. HD content is delivered at high quality, many more channels are planned and channels are being rolled out quickly right now. Check it out for yourself at:

http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=914047

I'm not shilling for DirecTV. I get the service (at a modest reduction in price) via my local phone company where I combine it with DSL for internet access. I find upgraded DSL to be more than adequate for my internet needs so the cable modem download speeds are not a hot item for me.

Everyone has their own perception of what a "quality product" means so YMMV, but for me this is a no brainer. DirecTV has more sports, more sports in HD, a better HD product, and little to no drawbacks.

Let me see, phone, internet, and cable, all for 100$ a month. I get the NFL network and can even watch my TV during bad weather. I could care less about HD. There is nothing at all wrong with regular TV. But hey I still watch VHS movies.

I can use that dumb Blue Ray in the same argument, theres nothing wrong with my DVD player, so why buy Blue Ray?

What about enforcing the Sherman Act?

Direct TV offers the NFL Sunday package,
Is rated better picture quality
Is generally cheaper
And you get more channels
And you get NFL Network

There is no compelling reason for a NFL fan to NOT have Direct TV - jmo

Call tonight and cry that you need it up and running by Thursday night!!!!!!!! You might get it installed - and watch the game!

All though Theo talked to me about it and how they really can't stop me.

I haven;t made a big deal about it yet but if I am still here next season I will be getting DirectTV.

NFL owns NFL Network and Direct TV has an alliance with NFL and sattelite, they are going to stick it to Cable - I'm suprised they even offer it to cable.

Squeeze the cable NFL fans to the Dishes.

That's exactly why they choose Jerry to head up this campaign.
Jerry could sell ice cubes to a eskimo.

Read the thread, guy.

I've read the thread, guy.

And I still don't know why you think anything I've said has to do with the Department of Justice, guy. I haven't said anything about anything that has to do with the Department of Justice, guy.

Just because you're talking about something else to someone else, that doesn't mean I'm talking about the same thing, guy.

If you're going to respond to me, try to stick to what I'm talking about, guy.

Thanks, guy.
