No the alternative is effectively the same QB for $3 guaranteed this coming season.

A first round drafted QB thereafter.
Can you guarantee a 1st round drafted QBs would put up numbers Dak has his first 4 years from the very first year?

Dak will easily get $38 - $40 per year now at a minimum thanks to Mahomes' new 10 year/$503 million with $477 million in guarantees/$45 mil/year average new contract extension.

You "don't pay Dak" Daktractors are foolish for having pushed the tag and much lesser pay which Jerry obviously listened to. Who is laughing now? Not you. It's Dak because he now knows he is worth at a minimum around $40 mil/season which Jerry will have no choice but to pay Dak since the alternative will lead to years of average play + rebuilding for years to come + playing musical chairs at the QB position.
I’m a big Dak supporter on this site as @WillieBeamen knows. But no way does Dak deserve 5 million less a season than a Super Bowl winner with Mahomes talent.

Great content from both sides... albeit it is all speculation without solid numbers

What deal are you referring to?
You have no idea as the rest of us what so-called deal was offered if any so stop pretending that you're Jerry Jones man....
You are right @PAPPYDOG! See that was easy. No one knows any of the numbers offered to Dak, but isn't it fair to say that Dak, IF he is signed to an extension gave himself a higher avg/yr salary and more guarantees over contract lifetime due to Mahomes re-stablishing/ setting the market?

Sir....the word DESERVE is no longer a factor in top 10 QB contracts.....it is all based on Market Value.
Mahomes just established a $150M-$200M guarantees QB market....just facts

If thats true, it wont be in Dallas.....UNLESS HE TAKES 5 YEARS.

The reality for us is that we just dont have the CAP to pay him $38 -$40m in years 2021-2023 without seriously damaging the TEAM.

He'll be in Indianapolis, Jacksonville, Cleveland or Carolina.

Problem for us is that:

1) The Chiefs were well positioned CAP wise.
2) Mahomes accepted a nice long contract that allows for team flexibility.

It takes a team to reach the playoffs. Dak did more than enough. Others did not. Dak has proven he keeps getting better every year. Easily a Top 5 QB. Would you rather have an average or below average QB?
It takes a team to reach the playoffs.....true
Now the dak stuff we just differ on that, he isnt top 5 IMO.
Dak did more than enough. ......no he didnt, he could have done better in decisions, and running, and throwing.
Others did not...... partially true there were some others that did not do as well as they should.
and on top of that poor coaching was big issue too, and that is part of the team.

Very true. Dak has to take 5+ years now that Mahomes reset the market on a 10 year term.

There are no guarantees to be fair. But it's not as if we are trying to replace Dan Marino.
Nah, just a Top 5 QB barely entering his prime and with a new head coach who is known to be one of the best offensive minds in the game, plus very pro-QB.

For starters for any player in their position to be considered in the top 5 they would need to be recognised as an All-Pro.

Pro Bowl doesn't mean much these days. Back up to the back up to the back up players make pro bowls now as guys drop out. Mitch Trubisky is a pro bowl QB. He was invited as a back up as was Prescott in 2018.

Let's revisit this conversation when Prescott is an All-Pro. It should be regulation this season given the enormous investment in talent around him on offense.

Had our WRs caught half of their league-leading 46 dropped passes last season, Dak's passer rating would easily have been above 105, easily surpassed 5k yards passing and he and the team would easily have been in the playoffs.
Bit then you would have to factor in all the dropped interceptions.

There's something about a Dak pass that makes everyone drop it. Even pro bowlers

Surprise Surprise Chiefs were well positioned CAP wise....when the rabbit (Mahomes) has the gun (leverage).

In reality the Chiefs Cap is well positioned because they hit on their free agents and have drafted fairly well.

CAP is a self imposed crutch cheap owners and dumb GMs use drive contract leverage and disinform gullible fans
2) Mahomes accepted a nice long contract that allows for team flexibility.
Mahomes didn't accept anything....He gave the Chiefs is demands and they capitulated...."accept"

Yeah, Dak is a 1 playoff win out of 3 playoff games QB because of...???

If you don't know the answer to that question, you simply have not been paying attention.

Dak deserves big pay.
Everyone else not named Dak. Isn't that the credo of Dak Supporters
