Anyone think Ellis is playing games?

Ellis hopes to practice Wednesday: Outside linebacker Greg Ellis, who is nursing bursitis in his surgically repaired left Achilles', has been ruled out for Sunday.
Ellis, however, said he hopes to practice Wednesday.
If he does practice, Ellis will be limited in what he can do. Ellis hasn't practiced since he cut short a session on the first day of training camp July 25.
The team is bringing him along slowly so it won't lose him for an extended period.
"Yeah, I want to be out there, that's pretty much it," Ellis said. "I plan to go out there and see what I can do. All I can do is go out and try."
Rookie Anthony Spencer will start in place of Ellis.

Maybe he just doesn't want to rush back like Terry Glenn did. He suffered a 12 month injury, you know.

Listen to JJ past few weeks and that's where I am getting my stuff/facts. Cowboys medically cleared Ellis a month ago to play. Fact The player is not comfortable and went out for second opinions.

I know Greg has a big heart(bigger than his ability), but i wouldn't put it past him, after all this crap, that this is a ploy. Probably not, but ya never know?

For my money... if Ellis doesn't play this season he'll never play another down. It's about 60-40 that he will play - and dropping by 5% with each passing regular-season week.
To this point in his career he's made a few peeps but never held back on effort - so he's getting the benefit of the doubt.

Todd Archer said today on GAC that Ellis wasn't that far away from playing -- maybe a couple weeks.

No - it's usually a 12 month recovery and Ellis is 10 months in on injury. JJ and team are onboard with your opinion he should have been on field a month ago.dbair1967;1627797 said:

I think he was truly hoping he'd get cut so he could move on and start playing right away. I could certainly see him be passive aggressive like this.
Just my two cents and I don't know the man, so who knows. But it wouldn't shock me.

I am suspicious to say the least, and the book released by Jerome Bettis this month confirms those that are suspicious have good reason.
Having said that, if Ellis misses the first 6 weeks of the season but comes back in time for the playoff push, it's not the worst thing in the world. Remember this is a 16 game campaign to get into the "tournament", the proverbial marathon and not a sprint.
