Document: Pacman paid 'extortion' cash in Vegas shooting

Associated Press

Updated: April 21, 2008, 9:39 PM ET

LAS VEGAS -- Court documents allege that a 29-year-old man arrested for a Las Vegas strip club shooting extorted hush money from suspended Tennessee Titans cornerback Adam "Pacman" Jones.
Police said Arvin Kenti Edwards, of Renton, Washington, used go-betweens to reach Jones, who paid $15,000 over several installments to various people after the shooting.
Three people were shot, including a man who ended up paralyzed -- after a melee at the Minxx strip club during the NBA All-Star Weekend in February 2007.
Edwards is in custody at the Yakima County Correctional Facility after being arrested Friday on attempted murder and battery charges. He is due in court Wednesday to face extradition.

At least this might help end the Pacman discussion.

Even if it doesn't, at least it will likely drive the price down for him even more and stick it to the Titans.

Here's a different version.

Adam 'Pacman' Jones accuses alleged Minxx shooter of extortion

Updated: April 21, 2008 08:01 PM

Adam 'Pacman' Jones may have been a victim after the Minxx nightclub shooting. We're learning this information from a newly released arrest report.

The report says the suspended NFL star told police when he was leaving the club a man told him not to worry about the fight inside. Jones said, a few minutes later, shots were fired. About a week later, Jones told police he got threatening phone calls demanding $15,000.

The report also says Jones identified the alleged shooter, Arvin Edwards, in a police line-up. Edwards was arrested last Friday in Washington state.

The shooting in February 2007 left bouncer Tom Urbanski paralyzed. Jones took a peal deal. Until now, no one else had been charged with actually pulling the trigger.

and another

Suspended NFL player Adam "Pacman" Jones may have been the victim of a shakedown by the man charged in the NBA All Star Weekend shooting at the Minxx Gentlemen's Club more than a year ago.
New information is coming out in the arrest report of 29-year-old Arvin Edwards.
It quotes Pacman Jones as telling police that as he was leaving the club a man told him not to worry about the fight inside. Jones said a few minutes later, he heard shots and saw that same man running from the club.
About a week later, Jones claims he began receiving calls from a man demanding a payment of $15,000.
Jones says he refused several times, until someone else began calling and making threats against his family.
It was Jones who identified the man outside the club as Arvin Edwards.

Well that was a quick turnaround...

Perhaps the thread title should be altered? Just a bit?

Just goes to show these guys are targets if they put themselves in bad situations. It's tough when you're young and rich, but you have to decide if your career comes first or da club.

it really goes to show that it doesn't take much for someone to judge others. just a few words will do, we'll assume the rest...

yeah I was going to say something along the lines of waiting for it to play out to judge but realized it would be wasted breath.

Anyone that wants the story that police investigators have and what Jones told them need to check out the arrest report (pdf). Jones' story seems to be backed up and it also appears that the promoter was stealing his money.

What a dumb guy to ask for $15k. You ALWAYS ask for at $100k or more. Trust me.

It's like going to a car dealership and there is an awesome Lexus for $400. You don't even take it seriously.
