APNewsNow: Lawsuit seeks compensation for Super Bowl loss
February 15, 2008

NEW ORLEANS (AP) -- A lawsuit filed Friday by a former St. Louis Rams player and others seeks millions of dollars in damages from the alleged taping of Rams practices by the New England Patriots before the 2002 Super Bowl.

The Patriots won the game 20-17 in the Superdome.

The $100 million suit, filed on behalf of former Rams player Willie Gary in U.S. District Court in New Orleans, names the Patriots, team owner Robert Kraft and head coach Bill Belichick.

Here’s an exercise in stupidity futility: Suing the New England Patriots because they beat you in Super Bowl XXXVI.
Somebody please send that in a memo to the St. Louis Rams before they’re laughed out of the NFL. The Rams, who lost the game 20-17, have filed a $100M class action lawsuit against the team and Coach Bill Belichick. On what grounds? Per ESPN:
The suit says: “The basis of this action is that the Defendants illegally videotaped the St. Louis Rams (”Rams”) “walk through” prior to the 2002 Super Bowl for the purpose of gaining an unfair advantage in the game.” It claims the Patriots were engaged in fraud, racketeering, breach of contract, and were in violation of Louisiana’s unfair trade practices and consumer protection act.
Well, at least they have the videotape as proof. Oh wait, no they don’t!
This is so ridiculous there’s a plot line for another Dumb and Dumber sequel in there, we can feel it. Do you think the Rams would be suing the Pats if they actually won the Super Bowl that year?
Translation: We want $100M for these Sour Grapes we’ve been chewing for six years.
The Rams are now part of the Superfluous Lawsuits Against the Patriots club, founded by a Jets fan who sued them for “deceiving customers” following “Spygate.”

Ridiculous........absolutely asinine IMO.

Back in week one, when this silly "spy-gate" thing surfaced (as if the Pats needed to cheat to pummel the J-E-T-S Jets?!?!), the first ones to make noise like this idiot was McNubb and his band of losers up in Philly. They were the first to cry sour-grapes and talk like they would ACTUALLY have a Ring if not for cheating by the Pats. Please.................

Anyone who dismisses the body of work accomplished by this franchise since the start of this decade because of so-called "cheating" isn't being genuine and honest in his argument. They just hate the Pats because of all the winning, and finally have a red-herring to account for their abundant success.
If you chalk up all their accomplishments to filming the other team outside of the NFL rules, your just LOOKING for a reason to diss them.

Cowboy fans who ride this empty "hate the Patriots" bandwagon, more than any fan of any other team in the NFL, should "get it" about this. Because we, more than ANY OTHER FAN BASE, understand what it is to be hated just because of our success. No other team in the NFL draws as much hatred as Dallas. There are dozens of web-sites and clubs out there devoted to nothing else but Cowboy haters.

Any why is this? Because Dallas beat their teams butt somewhere along the line, sometimes the Cowboys being the insurmountable obstacle in their team's way to a Championship (Packers, the rest of the NFC East, etc....) for a long, long time.

We all, as fans of NFL Pro Football, got jobbed this year by NOT seeing history in the Pats going 19-0 (and finally shutting up the idiot Dolphins). Salary cap, free agency, and other "parity" measures sealed our fate of having to live with the mediocre Giants and Eli Manning as the "champions" of the league. Once Dallas was embarrassed and laid down in front of these chumps, I was pulling for the Pats all the way. It would've been historic. Instead, we have to live with this years "Saints", this years "Tampa Bay", this years "Ravens" getting the ring. The latest "parity" baby who simply was the team lucky enough to "not lose" the last game.

Thats what the Giants accomplished. Nothing more, nothing less.

But don't embarrass yourself by thinking and saying that the Patriots need to "cheat" to beat the lame Jets. Or the lame Rams. Or the lame Eggless.
Or the lame Panthers. Every one of their rings is deserved, and don't sleep well at night thinking they won't win another one...................as long as Bilicheck and Brady are around........................................

That's exactly why the Patriots should have had their Jets win taken from them.

If you're stupid enough to cheat against a team you're supposed to DOMINATE, you deserve what the Patriots got... *.... and so much more!

This lawsuit is beyond stupid. Suing someone, or a team, for 100 million dollars cause they beat you for the Superbowl, even if they cheated? How stupid.

You do realize Jets sucked

You do realize Pats "camera" was taken in first half. And in all reality all teams tape and it only pays off in rematch situations.....if they are SMART enough to break a teams signals.

****e happens every night in MLB with signals AND ATTEMPTING TO STEAL THEM.....

JJ and Switzer both said they did it in 1990's in Dallas- NEXT

this is absurd. they're gonna have to put on enough evidence to prove that:

1. new england actually did tape them
2. the taping/use caused the rams to lose
3. the loss suffered was $100M

don't you think that, if this evidence were already out there, the **** would've hit the fan by now? (more than it has ...)

this Matt Walsh guy has the tapes of them taping the Ram's walk-through

now if they could only get the little mole to come out of his hole

only thing is in baseball you dont need a camera to videotape them for future use. other players/manager can SEE with their OWN EYES across the diamond, to 3rd base, 1st base etc...

plus baseball teams changes their signals very very often.

by the way, this is actually the first time ive seen you post since the patriots collapse/choke whatever you wanna call it.

it would be the PERFECT ending to a season for the patriots if they lose..:lmao2:
