The 29th would be 10 business days from now. I think that's what they go by.

I don't believe there is any time frame for when they have to reach a verdict on the appeal. The went 5 weeks without ruling on Brady's appeal.

I wonder how much time would be needed to go to court to get an injunction. I have seen a few legal opinions say that Elliott's attorneys are making a mistake not filing in court now. That by following the appeal process, Elliott is giving the league control over legal jurisdiction as well.

When Brady appealed and lost NFL was in court immediately to get favorable judge from NY

The more I think about this the more I think the NFL may be willing to "go to the mat" as well. After all, Goodell impaneled a group of people who are supposed to be respect-worthy probably to inoculate himself from criticism. If they overturn this group's decision, what message will the NFL be sending? We picked a bunch of knuckleheads? We don't know what we're doing? They may have to fight it, even if it means just saving face.

Can Zeke play while the appeal process is going on and even further in court? I mean Brady played a whole year.

Appeal decision will come Oct. 16th.

Why do you say that?

I sure hope so...

Call me selfish but I shelled out a lot of dough to see the Cowboys on 10/1---lord knows I wanna see Zeke there at Jerryworld.

As far as I know...yes.

It took the league almost two months for Greg Hardy's appeal decision.

They have 10 days to set the hearing date...... not 10 days to have the hearing

I'm sure Zeke's lawyers can and will push it back for more time to prepare a defense.... the NFL had a year for its investigation

I don't see the suspension being eliminated in this hearing.

It may be reduced, in which case the inference still stands: Elliot is a woman-beater.
The question then becomes, "How hard will he fight to clear his name?". Getchya popcorn ready... this could take a while.
If it gets reduced then he's not a woman beater he's a knucklehead, the suspension staying at 6 would say the league believes he assaulted her.

YOu might be right. I thought player discipline was different than drug discipline. You can play when you appeal a drug suspension but I thought you still had to sit during a player discipline suspension.

But the more I think about it, that can't be right. Because the league could just sit on an appeal the length of the suspension and then rule.

Nah. In the court of public opnion, he's a woman beater whether this thing gets reduced to 2 games or 4 games. If anything, people will rail on the NFL for going soft on domestic violence.
