Yes that is what I understand, the hearing needs to be scheduled within 10 days. Not sure how long they have to give a decision in, after the hearing. Say if they schedule it for September 7, he denies it on the 8th after the courts close. Then how can they get an injunction against the suspension in time for the 10th.

It will be tied up for a year similar to Tom Brady "deflate gate". Zeke will serve his suspension beginning of 2018 if he loses the appeal.

He will have the hearing Sept 23 and the decision will be announced Nov 1

He will have it reduced to 4 games and will file a Federal appeal and not miss any games in 2017 or
They offer 2 games settlement with no admission of guilt he will take it immediately

If zeke were to settle for the 2 games the NFL would need to give something also such as the press release was not written by the NFL offices and maybe point the blame at the independent panel and state this was their swan sog.

They make deals all the time...... the gave Leveon Bell a deal twice.... they reduced Big Bens 6 to 4..... I read they offered Brady two games to drop his appeal........ they hate going to Federal Court because they aren't in total control and it costs millions

if they said take 2-3 games for general misbehavior and said it wasn't for DV and won't hang banishment over his head for a future violation he would probably take it

Yeah but they wont because then the DV Shrills will lose their victory and the NFL would not longer be the "hero"

The 29th would be 10 business days from now. I think that's what they go by.

I don't believe there is any time frame for when they have to reach a verdict on the appeal. The went 5 weeks without ruling on Brady's appeal.

I wonder how much time would be needed to go to court to get an injunction. I have seen a few legal opinions say that Elliott's attorneys are making a mistake not filing in court now. That by following the appeal process, Elliott is giving the league control over legal jurisdiction as well.

Elliott can't file in court until all of his appeals under the process laid out in the CBA have been exhausted. The people issuing the legal opinions are wrong.

It's 10 business days - 2 weeks in calendar days.
That is just to set the hearing date...... the hearing will be around Sept 23rd and the decision will come around Nov 1st

Zeke can play and practice until then

If he loses Nov 1st then he goes Federal like you said and that would mean he plays all of 2017

He can't file any court action until the appeal ruling comes down. And by then the NFL will beat him to court because they know before he will when the appeal decision will be issued.

If EE tried to file in court now, before the appeal is done, the judge would dismiss it as premature.

And that should be the only way. If they continue to label him an abuser he shouldn't take it if he's innocent.

I thought it just needed to be scheduled within 10 days not actually held?
They'll probably hold it quickly so that RG can find that the 6 game suspension stands.
But 10 days from now would be a maximum of august 25th
10 "business" days, which puts it at exactly the 29th of August. Whether that means they have to schedule or hear the appeal, I don't know. Personally, they've slow-played this along a time-line that really crunches the hell out of Zeke's ability to file an appeal and then further take it to the courts. The timing was key. Conveniently, some detractors will state, "Well, they wouldn't send down a verdict a week or two before Jerry's HOF induction.". BS! They should've served him with a suspension months ago. They slow-played this for a reason. They want it to stick and they want him to serve it this season. Mark my words, they'll start his appeal review on the 29th of August and sometime between the 5th-7th of September (my bet is late day on the 6th) they'll wrap it up with a small reduction in the suspension. That'll give him just 2 business days to get an injunction (unlikely to acquire in that time-frame) before the first game of the season that weekend against bird-beak's team.

Am I the only one that thought waiting until August for a league response was dubious?

People wanting to suggest the appeals process will last as long as Brady's need to remember that the lower courts that issued the injunction for Brady now have a precedent to go by, and it's possible that Zeke's case gets shut down very fast.

I don't think Goodell is as stuck in ways as most here believe. It would not surprise me at all for him to think things over and add an additional 6 games on top

Well for someone who is supposedly sharp as a wit I'm surprised he didn't even show to during the testimonial proceedings. He already is in a bind because of it.
