I thought it read that in order for the suspension to be reduced there has to be new evidence entered into the appeal hearing. Am I wrong here?
Cause I can't image they have been holding back proof of his innocence.
Don't get me wrong Zeke got the railroad treatment here but if new evidence is the standard then I'm not looking for a positive result

I've also read that she was reportedly involved in a bar fight (not with Zeke) around the same time frame that these photos were taken...

She was in a bar fight with another woman right before the alleged incident with Zeke .... it's all in the police report as stated by her friend who was a witness to both.

This will be interesting. I'd love to be a fly on the wall in that meeting room.

I'm still hoping for a reduction to 2 or 3 games.
I was originally hoping for 2 thinking they'd at least tag him for pulling a girls shirt down but given the way they handled the other situation and labeled him a woman beater, I suspect they'll be forced to call it a wash.

Rank speculation I admit, but whoever was leaking word of the imminent suspension to Chris Carter told him it was likely four games, so maybe that is what the NFL is planning on ending up on -- in which case the original six game penalty gives them room to cut back on the appeal, and look "reasonable".

Then again, maybe not.

the NFL refused to release the 160 page report, but some one at the cowboys has it including Zeke's lawyer. there will be leaks which will make NFL look even worse.

How can such a marketing machine, continuously botch one thing. its simple...because they absolutely don't care about domestic violence. its a "how we look to the pubic" issue. if they cared, Ray Rice would have been suspended for a year first time around....I didn't see the video thing was a total BS. everyone knows it. now they are trying to make themselves look tough. they gave brown a 6 game suspension, and reduced it to 1. now they are putting on a show. "hey, we are more diligent than the law...we investigated for 13 months. and even the smallest hint of DV, resuspended a player for 6 games"...is what they are doing. its a publicity stunt. except its keeping them in negative light....... now, if they reduce it..... people will say, wait, you are just putting on a show. if they keep it, they will be sued.... they have totally botched DV...why? because they absolutley don't give a damn..... if DVwould get them more sponsors, they would freaking promote it!!!!

This whole investigation has been shoddy.

In the end, I do think Zeke did something he probably shouldn't have. But he was dealing with a woman who was clearly crazy. Some blame should go to both parties. Instead, the NFL lays all the blame on Zeke.

They gave no weight to the unstable girlfriend he was trying to get away from. I think this is where the reduction from 6 games may come from.

This opposed to Brown who was entirely at fault and gets one game.

Zeke's lawyers have plenty of ammunition to use in their appeal.

First step that will end with a lawsuit. Zeke will probably be granted his injunction when he files

I'm not even sure why there is an appeal process considering Goodell levies the suspension and he is the same person who looks at the appeal. If he already knows everything, what's the point?

The NFLPA leadership have got to be one of the stupidest groups of people on the planet to agree to let the NFL levy all punishments without any real recourse by the players except for a paper-mache appeals process.

It's a point of procedure before it gets taken to court. Plus, Goodell may not necessarily handle the appeal.

I hope they take into consideration the girl is a tramp and a gold digger who got scorned when she lost her sugar daddy.

I'll leave this here:

Hard to believe the following:

But the NFL apparently shares the same concerns expressed by Ohio authorities over Thompson’s trustworthiness.

The lead investigator for the league, Lisa Friel, said that Thompson gave misleading statements to authorities last year.

Yes and No. Football is a short career. If they strike for a year or 2, probably half of the NFL would not return. They have 0% leverage. If this were baseball, different story.

Not really. The players would be saving there bodies for a year as well. If I am the NFLPA I am telling the players to save every dime because the league has rolled over them far too long.

People keep advocating for appeal based on Thompsons credibility. What is worrying is that the letter to Zeke seems to acknowledge the lack of credibility and suggests that the NFL based their decison on the other evidence (which is not all in the public domain). The bar fight appears also to have been considered and disregarded as the cause of at least some alleged injuries - that the alleged injuries are of different ages and so couldnt be from the same bar fight?

So. The appeal has to be heard in 10 days? Or just a hearing has to be scheduled?
I read through the NFL rules with the Mara addendum, and it specifically states that the appeal must by upheld in it's entirety if the offending player is scheduled against the Giants and the scheduled game falls in the time period of the original ruling. It's in there, you just have to look hard.

A reasonable person would conclude there HAS to be some evidence that make it clear he more than likely did this.

Somehow I think there isn't. At all. Just a very peculiar ruling.
