we have had 13 and 3 seasons before the championship is the goal any thing less than that is a epic failure with the way this team is set up over the last few years the league is littered with teams that won 13 or more games and was one and done in the playoffs or never come close to a championship

I understand all the hope in the future given our draft and their overall effectiveness this year. they should be applauded for the season. However IMO the future is now and there are certainly no guarantees to have a playoff run next year or the year after. Lots of uncontrollable variables go into a championship season, just ask the Panthers.
If we go one and done, (depending on how we lose) will be the result of how I react to this season. If we play well (few penatlies and turnovers) and get beat, I can applaud. If we get stomped due to mental errors in play and coaching, it will be hard not to be critical. Just sayin.

Certainly, style will matter. They can't poop the bed and be praised for it.

This team has to win a playoff game. Garrett has been here a LONG time. Jerry and the front office have been doing this a LONG time. They made the decision to stick with Dak(and I agree with it)...so that means they have high expectations regardless of his level of experience. The decision makers for this franchise have been at this too long to get a free pass. I love how our future "looks"....but we have beaten some really good teams....we drove these rookies hard to get home field advantage....weather/crowd noise should not be a factor...the best running game in the NFL is intact...the defense is playing the best it has played all year AND it will be the healthiest it has been all year..and 3 of the 4 teams we could potentially play we have already played beating 2 of them.

If teams stack the box and force Dak to beat them...and we do not put together a gameplan to do that...then shame on this organization. Because a healthy Romo with this running game will score 28 points EASILY during this postseason run. And I cannot stress enough that I am OK with Dak being the QB. He has proven himself several times over. But we should already know what is coming. Teams have to pick their poison. Either we are going to bully them running the ball....or they are going to dare Dak to beat them...and this coaching staff better not get cold feet and be scared to let Dak beat them.

I love that everyone is slobbering over the Giants and Aaron Rogers, it will make winning that much sweeter.

I think we take the Giants in 3rd meeting.
If it's Green Bay then I think we knock Rodgers down a peg. Knock him off this magic carpet ride.
Take them out too!

I will not be happy with a loss going forward but I will still be proud of this team and how they played. I have never been a fan of the Cowboys based on winning, I'm a fan win, lose or tie and as a fan all I ask for is guys going out and giving it their all. I can handle a loss but can't stand a quitter or a team that gives up. Since being a Cowboy fan from 1965 to today there has only been a couple of teams that really was embarrassing because the quit

This team was given no chance to do anything and they have played their tails off this season and given me much hope for the future. Sure anything less than a SB will be disappointing

Sadly, anything short of winning the Superbowl and this will be historically known as "The What If" season.

There is nothing that can be done to change this course, except win the SB.

Nonetheless, it has been a great season and the future looks bright for a change.

Haven't you heard? Anything less than a Super Bowl win and this season is a complete failure. You aren't allowed to be appreciative of how amazing and unexpected this season has been if we lose. Don't worry, I've got a feeling plenty of people are about to explain it.
I think some are approaching the success vs failure question from a "what I expected at the beginning of the season but look where we ended up" lens vs others looking at it from a "now that we're here (#1 seed), anything less than NFCCG or SB will be a failure" lens. I think both angles are very valid. Nobody with a lick of sense would have predicted 13-3 and HFA back in early September. They would be correct to say this season has been wildly successful based on early expectations. Now, forget all that. We're 13-3 and have the #1 seed locked up. We'll be home for every game until the SB. Given that advantage (and record), why shouldn't we expect continued success and feel a sense of failure if we get booted in the divisional round? I have no gripes with either take.

I don't know if you can call it a "what if" season,

Regular season is meaningless.

We go in with rookies at the most crucial positions.

But would it be awesome if this rookie QB spun off another 11-12 wins in a row... we start offf next season 8-0

I'm right there with you. I could see this this team going all the way, or very easily one and done. Either way, I see this as an amazing season. The future is so bright with this team, I'm not putting all my hopes into this season's basket.

But you don't know how the future will manifest itself. Carolina went from a SB team to a bad team. There are no guarantees.

Right, but their window is far from closed. It's still wide open. I'm not saying we'll be in the playoffs every single year, but this team's window is just re-opened.

Oh no doubt. If/when we lose, I'll probably not want to be around here for a week or two to let the meltdowns cool off and the cesspool drain.

Me neither but in the midst of the suffering Im sure Ill come back, and argue with some trolls. It will be pointless and frustrating but the offseason is long. We best win a couple.

Well if we win a couple, we'll be in the Superbowl, so here's hoping.

Its dynasty open, thats how wide open it is. We have an embarrassment of young talent and with the quest for Tony's replacement, complete we are set to load up on defense. Anyone too blind by the sorrow of losing is overlooked what we accomplished.

I hear you. They are so predictable as well... You'll see a bunch of...

" Well had it been Romo....."

"Coaching staff is dumb for sitting these young guys"

"This team was pretenders all along, we've been bamboozled"

" I told you so...."

And somehow blame Jerry in every thread.
