Lol we can't beat Atlanta. Rubbish. We can put more points on them they they can us.

I know you want to believe that, but ATL is dangerous. Don't be so full of yourself. Not saying we would lose, but if both teams are hot, ATL offensively wise, would dog walk our offense.

In a normal paced game, I like us.

The season is not a success if they can't make the NFC Title game.
I want to agree with that. But preseason expectations being so low for most fans it's hard to say this season hasn't already been a successful one.

What a crazy, awesome, chaotic, mysterious, exotic, and surprising Cowboys season. I've rifled through my brainpan files, and I can't remember a season like it. Here, there, anywhere.

Usually, when wins mount like they have this year, it's because of certainty, consistency, and predictability. You just know and expect it, like New England most every year or the Cowboys of the early 90s. Weeks of matter-of-fact results that you set your watch to. Ho-hum through the drudgery of weeks of waiting for the playoffs.

Such has not been this seaon.

An unsettled promise has hung over this team since that gut-wrenching loss in Green Bay two Januarys ago. All along, quality abounds in key places, while known warts linger. We've waited through the hopeful mystery, then aggravated through the vacuum that consumed the days between Romo's fall in Philly and his subsequent fall in Seattle.

Damn you, Weeden and Cassel. Healthier vertebrae than Romo, but no spine at all. Clipboard pirates, both of you.

And so here we are, all 13-3 and no place to go this weekend. Not a human on the planet could have ever thunk it. A fresh-bodied kid from the Deep South has delivered what last year's invertebrates could not, a steady hand through a long, arduous NFL season. I'll never forget the ride this has been, like none other I can remember in these parts.

And yet, the mystery remains. The No. 1 seed feels far more frantic than it should. Can the young buck step forward against the refined playoff likes of Green Bay, New York, Seattle, Atlanta, New England....? Can this defense withstand the fury of Rodgers and Ryan, both of whom have themselves fine-tuned for the playoffs? Can the run game finally find its dominant form against the likes of the Giants or Seahawks if need be?

Can Dak handle it from here? Will Romo be called on? Will the coaches even consider a change? If so, will they do it in time, or wait too late? It this playoff run about now, or later? Is Romo as good as gone, or could he return? Or.....all of the above in some unknown order?

On the other side of the ball....

Has this defense truly found itself a pass rush? Can Mo still play like Mo early on? Is Sean Lee about to announce his presence with an authority that will fortify this defense enough against high-flying offenses to come? Is David Irving about to become a superstar? Will Jack Crawford grow eyebrows?

This season can be summed up with two crazy statements: Jason Garrett very well may win Coach of the Year. Jerry Jones very well may be inducted in the Hall of Fame. Surely, a meteor is about to hit mother earth any moment.

Even at 13-3 and with the top seed, my hopes are tempered and my doubts are numerous. I don't expect the Cowboys to beat Green Bay, Atlanta, or New England the way those clubs look right now. In fact, I think they'd go 0-3 in those games. I say that with honesty and guilt alike.

So, I will root like hell on Red Bull for my boys and enjoy whatever comes. This has been a season like no other, so I'm just going to let it be that. Enjoy this amazing draft and hitch up for whatever ride comes now, next season, and the decade beyond.

One and done, or hoisting that sixth silver football. I'll applaud them when this season ends, whenever that be.

A good and fan driven OP, guy. It's good to see fans challenged to support the heart of the team. Now that is ideal. Sure, tragedy comes to all teams, given time...but this team is fun to watch, because they just don't give up. Make mistakes? Yea, but they bring to the fan once again...sportsmanship and a love of the actual game. Warts and all...and yea, it's about time that the fan can sense the aroma in the air as well.

Point blank...myself, I feel that I am being a pompous fan if I only compare to perfection points in a season. 31 teams in the NFL are boned to this level every single season. The Cowboys have been in the top six teams in the NFL for 2 of the past 3 seasons. That is class, if not the very best each time.

I don't have anything against Weeden and Cassel. I never begrudge a player for simply not being talented. Those players are like Steve Pelluer and Kevin Sweeny. They simply don't have the talent and no amount of effort could make up for that.

Anything but a SB appearance as a #1 seed and this offensive line is an utter choke job, ESPECIALLY when you think you're cute enough to do it with the Franchise leader in TD's, passer rating, 4th qrtr comebacks and probably a top 10 passer of all time on the bench watching.
Waaaaaaaahhhhhhhh!
Get over yerself.
Get over Tony!
Let us live for the future!!!!

(BTW: Romo never even sniffed a super Bowl.
Yep! 2 Lousy 1 and outs in the playoffs IN A DECADE OF FUTILITY!!!
DONT RAISE THE BAR FOR DAK SO YOU CAN SAY "I TOLD YOU WE SHOULD HAVE PLAYED

It's more than that. Some guys simply don't want to play. They want to ride that clipboard gravy train.

I'll never forget Weeden, on 4th and 5 at the end of the Atlanta game, taking a slide two yards short of the first down with a defensive back coming up to hit him. Invertebrate.

I think Cassel gave it an honest effort. He had to learn the offense in a short time period. He gave it an honest effort. He just didn't have the talent.

I won't applaud anything if they lose a playoff game with the offense struggling in a winnable game and #9 is left on the bench.

Cowboys might not even have to play Green Bay, Atlanta, or New England.

I believe the Gnats can win and even Detroit has a chance IMO.

Also, who's to say the Chiefs or Stealers can't beat the Patsies...you just don't know.

Well, then I guess you can say that about any team versus any other team. Patriots have the easiest road to the SB I've seen in many, many, many years.

Pats will have to beat the Chiefs or Stealers first though. Not an easy game as both teams are used to cold weather and both QB's have good playoff experience (Smith 5 gms, Rothlisberger 17gms). Pats barely got by the Chiefs at home last year 27-20 and I'm sure the Chiefs want revenge for that. I just don't feel as confident as those already giving the Pats a SB berth...we'll see.

Thankfully, we have an even better QB currently starting with a fantastic option at backup if needed.:thumbup:

I agree I've seen the Brady bunch in New England walk off the field after a playoff loss many times. And they were always the favorite. I think it's going to be the Chiefs representing the ABC.

And Detroit is absolutely capable of beating the Seahawks.

So our playoff run could start with the Lions and end with the Chiefs.
