Appreciation DT M. Collins

M. Collins played the most snaps on the DL last week. I have not checked the other weeks but he appears to play as many or more snaps than the other DL in the previous weeks also.

He has been really good. He can play 1-tech or 3-tech. He can draw double teams or penetrate against single blocking. Sometimes he even penetrates against double teams.

It's great to finally have some size on the DL. By listing, he is the biggest DL on the team at 311 pounds but also as quick as any of the DTs.

Considering some of his struggles in 2 gap last year at Nebraska Ive been surprised by how well he is handling double teams

I didn't really consider him to have struggled last year. He just couldn't show what he can do in that scheme. Yes, he might have been off balance and looked silly a few times, but I wouldn't really say he struggled. I had him as my 2nd ranked DT in the draft.

He looked out of position to me. Looked much as a penetrator in 2014. However it looks like he took what he learned in 2015 in a 2 gap scheme and made himself a better overall player

Collins is only getting better too, he is a perfect fit for this scheme!
