Don't know about "demanding" as-if he's in a position to do that.

But I bet he's making the case, "Jerry, I was compliant with your modifications to the coaching staff all along. I took Richard when you wanted. I took Moore when you wanted. And back when I took Linehan. Grant me just a single year please, if you have any regard for me, to let me hire and run it all as I believe it should be run."

No i dont. But jerry winking and saying time is not a factor leads me to believe he knows and has for awhile.

Considering the assistant coaches were all told they were free to look elsewhere. I am pretty sure the rest will be told today. What worries me is Garrett telling them they can look elsewhere.

He loves what comes with the job. He never got better at it after 10 years. Thinking he still deserves the job is delusion

That’s where I’m at in all this. I think Jerry offered Garrett something other than coaching to remain within the organization and I think Garrett presented Jones with a plan to remain the coach. After much back and forth they each agreed to sleep on it and consider each other’s proposal. In the end, I hope Jerry knows there is nothing Garrett can do fix the mess he made. He had a decade to change and evolve as a head coach but stubbornly refused to do so.

Sound like the job of a GM. Lol. JJ makes JG the puppet GM.

That would undermine the new head coach before they are even announced.

That's all fine, but I still don't begrudge him fighting for his job and for believing in himself. We all have failures in life, and some people lose faith, some don't. It's the ones who don't who ultimately matter.

Where we disagree is in the timing... I just don't think Garrett was mentally able to turn that sharp curve and not even 24 hours after missing the playoffs, present a plan. Garrett is famous/infamous for his "just deal with what's right in front of you" approach.

It's more reasonable to me that Jerry has given Garrett another day to put together his case/plan.

I have no idea. It seems like Jerry has a plan, though. Whatever it is.

it can’t be anything like that. Garrett has already been proven to be a saboteur so he cannot have any bit of control over any aspect of the team that could result in a conflict with the new coach. Nothing would derail the new coach faster than thinking the old coach is conspiring with Jerry on a daily basis. If Garrett is offered anything it must be removed from having actual involvement with the team and players. It would have to be business or public relations related to work.

His delusion is not a virtue, nor should it cripple a multi billion dollar sports franchise.
He was not qualified when he got the job through nepotism and after 10 Years he still isn't.
    It's not faith it's entitlement.

Who knows, maybe Jerry has hit the point where managing this club is no longer fun for him. He's what in his 70's now? Guy should be sitting back and enjoying games with his family. He shouldn't be obsessing over day to day bs of the franchise. I don't care how much you love football, doing that for 20+ years is going to get old in a hurry.

That’s basically the same thing. Garrett could have thrown his assistants under the bus and pleaded that’s lots of different coaches will be available now. Give him a little time to put a new staff together.

Point well-taken. Didn't say it would be an ultimately successful argument, but just that it's one I think he might be making.
