Something I'm curious about: does going on injured reserve limit in any way what Romo can do on the sideline or in practice in the role of an extra coach for Weeden? Just not sure what all "can't practice for six weeks" entails. He'll be a much-needed asset in the film room, on the practice field, and on the sideline for the offense.

What's it going to be then, eh?

This designation was necessary to bring in the backup QB. With the reinstatement of Hardy and McClain, there were a couple of cuts already on the way.

This was pretty much a necessity. They cannot carry Romo, Bryant and Gregory for weeks at a time. Taking Romo, who has the more finite time table for his return was the smarter move than any of the others.

Good news, IMO.

I'd rather the team not even be tempted to let Romo try to come back too soon, and you know Romo would be chomping at the bit after 5 weeks telling them he's fine and ready to go.

normally I would agree. But we are talking about player with shrinking window. Maybe this year and next. I would let him play early if its healed. Didn't Aikman say he came back in 5 weeks.

Aikman did, but his break was at a different point (more in the middle of the bone) than Romo's, thus healing quicker than Romo's is expected to. Just passing on what I read earlier today

Every heals differently and at different rates, however, since Tony broke this same collarbone previously they have <some> data on what his healing rate is vs the average.

Thanks for the info. Just got the impression from the article I read in comparing Aikman to Romo that the location of the break had an impact on healing time.

I'd be really hesitant. I don't want Romo coming in before the bone has healed properly. If he played while the bone was not healed back to normal bone strength, the smallest of hits could refracture his clavicle.

I'm wondering that too?

He can be around the team, he just can't practice for 42 days. Sean Lee helped a lot last year when he was on the IR.

He can't practice for 6 weeks and can't play for 8 weeks which means he will miss 7 games due to the early bye

If we can go 3-4, we will still be in striking distance of the division when Romo returns

Ok I didn't see any confirmation on where Romo break was. I assume it's closer to ac joint.

Sorry Wood, could not find it yet and it's time to turn off the computer and go home. Have a great day!
