Are Cowboys Planning For Darren McFadden To Be The Lead Back?

I think Darren McFadden has something to prove. I'm pretty eager to see what he and Williams can do behind this line. I'm also want to see McFadden in the passing game and taking dump offs from Romo. I like him as an open-space runner more so than Murray.

IDK what they're planning. The FO may just not be mentioning Randle because he's a tougher sell. I was wondering the other day if folks (myself included) would have more confidence in Randle had he committed an equally serious--but more normal--crime. It's hard to picture an underwear thief turning into an upper echelon player, but we've seen it happen with lots of other players who committed crimes far more severe. People mention the underwear thing a lot more than the domestic charges that were dropped.

I still question his maturity, and it will take a lot to make me want him past his rookie contract, but we've seen guys put it together for a year when they had a lot to prove.

No chance that Jerry is the one who makes that call.
That may be his preference though.
In fact, I bet Jerry is 3rd or 4th in line on deciding who starts at RB for us.

Lol
Yeah right!

Jerry got him the Arkansas back that he wanted.
Jerry believes DMF has a good deal left.
He believes DMF has something to prove... AND WILL.

He will be feature back!

I think right now they envision Randle as the starter and DMC as the primary 3rd down RB. I don't think its set in stone and McFadden has a chance to win the job in camp. I feel like Dunbar is in serious risk of not making the roster though.

This is exactly how I feel about it.

Well into training camp and after the 3rd preseason game, the decision as to whom is most deserving of the starting RB position will be obvious and not controversial among the FO personnel. So it won't matter what the pecking order is in the decision making process... they'll all agree and it won't be close. DMC will be the man.

I sure hope he's not. This has Larry Lacewell written all over it if so.

I'm surprised people did not get this when we brought him to Dallas. He is here to start. Now that could change coming out of training camp and pre season but I think Dallas has had the intention of starting McFadden when they brought him to Dallas. It is his job to lose

Yup. Again ... If we know Jerry.... This is his plan.

In his mind he has found a better RB to tun behind this line.

He is the most complete back of any of the RB we have, that may not be saying a lot but it is the truth of the matter. Dallas may look to bring in another RB via trade if not then like it or not McFadden is here to start not be a 3rd down back or relief. It is his job to lose and not that hard to figure out

That's the most ludicrous thing I read on here, "brought in to be 3rd down back or relief"

Furthermore, if he can do what Jerry thinks he can do. Jerry has a extension $$$ plan in mind. He is loyal like that.

I think most of us just viewed him as insurance and that drafting a RB was where we were going to find our new starter.

This would seem what we are after. McFadden is a good blitz picker upper. I think a major reason why our other backs last year saw so little 3rd down snaps wasn't because we didn't want a rotation but because Murray was just so much better in protection.

I agree, Clearly there is reason for doubt by Cowboy fans on McFadden but it is what it is, unless as I said Dallas looks to made a trade to bring in a better RB.
