Are Many Teams Built For Old School Football?

who says you need one that good?

Prior to this year, you would be hard pressed to find many who might have classified Murray as a Franchise Back. Now, you can't swing a dead cat without hitting a media type that isn't gushing this type of sentiment.

This league is cyclical and what was will again be.

The notion floating around here that any RB can do what Murray does ignores his ability after contact.

Dallas is winning because they are not getting in a shootout, exposing their defenses to shootouts, and selling out for the run.

There will be other teams doing this next season.

You even see it in college with Alabama and Auburn, been saying this for awhile, the media screams that you need an elite qb to compete for a super bowl but SF and Seattle proved otherwise. For years we've built this team from the outside in now we're building it the right way, it doesn't sale jerseys and may not be sexy but it adds up to wins.

Now I don't think Colin and Russ are complete products at qb today... especially as passers.... But to say they aren't franchise qbs is nonsense.

we can pick up RBs late in the draft and pretty cheap; grab 3 at a time and odds are one at least will do the job

Yeah I agree, but quality franchise RBs are hard to come by these days too.

Not really, the NFL has just devalued them, they use running back by the committee approach as to not have 1 single 1500 yard rushers but 3 backs that total 1500 yards. The powers that be would rather feature the passing game over the smash mouth running game because it brings in more viewers.

I can't agree more with this statement. With the majority of NFL Defenses built to stop aerial attacks, few (if any) are built strong enough at the point of attack to stop our ground and pound.

Don't be surprised if OL and DL are the major hauls in next year's draft. The pendulum is swinging back.

OL and DL are always heavily taken in the early rounds. An OL and DL were the top two picks in just this past year's draft.

I'm just not a fan of the committee approach if it can be helped.

Even the greatest passers in NFL history need either elite running game or defense, oftentimes both, to win it all. But teams have been able to win rings without elite passers. Exhibit A&B: Marino (0-1) and Peyton (1-3)

I agree, it's kinda hard for a running back and oline to jell when 3 backs are rotating in every other play.

I agree. Some backs get stronger over the course of the game, they get into a rhythm and what was 3 or 4 yard carries start turning into bigger runs. I think giving him a breather is a good thing but he wants the load and showing he can handle the load so give the man the load

I think a lot of teams got so caught up in pass pass they forgot you have to run to win titles. A lot of teams defenses are set up to rush passer. They are not really set up to be balanced on defense.

Broncos and Lions seemed to be pretty balanced. Good thing is we won't have to worry about it until playoffs with either team.
