Are the Cowboys the only team that puts their business in the streets?

I don't follow other teams.. But Jerry and the gang seem to like saying things like Norman wants too much money, or were not interested in a particular player, or we resigning this player, we not drafting a QB, this guy is not on our board, ect. Do other teams do this?

Thing is it is not Jerry Jones that is doing most of the talking right now.

It is Stephen Jones.

I know it's shoot-first-ask-questions-later here when it comes to the Joneses, but is it a bad thing to answer questions you don't deem in the team's interest to not answer? Is it a bad thing to get coverage re: a player we're not involved with if there's a mic involved and a question to be answered? I guess this is yet another topic I'm not seeing the point in getting even slightly worked up about.

I think it's tacky. You're right; likely not something to get worked up about. But Jerry stepping on his staff's toes - as he so often does - is something we should be worried about as fans. So while this example isn't much, I do think him craving attention is, in general.

I mean, he's an egomaniac, for sure. And he loves the idea of free publicity for the Cowboys. Jerry's definitely had his tacky moments. And by that I'm referring to most of his moments. I don't think commenting on the fact that Norman wants a lot of money is a particularly good example of that, though. I mean, the Panthers lifted the tag for a reason. I think the cat is already out of that bag.

Short answer: Yes.

What might be perceived as in the best interest of the team at the time the comments are made may change over time. You never know. That is why the best response is the non-response (or Belichick meandering non-answer). Garrett is pretty good at that. Jerry and Stephen need to work on it.

But I agree its nothing to get worked up about.

Getting out the word on the Cowboys business is sort of what we do here at CZ. Whether it's the team actually putting it out or outsiders just speculating about it, there is a good deal of it out there to talk about. I'm sure other teams do the same, mostly to a lesser extent.

Yes, the Cowboys talk more openly about all things football including FAs and the draft. And I'll let you in on another secret, the other 31 teams usually follow. It is just a matter of time. The Cowboys are pretty much out in front and lead the pack.

Marketing, a little vanity sure but it's a Billion Dollar Franchise that thrives on rabid fans. It's Americas Team and its the hottest team in the country.

In one aspect we are fortunate to get all this info, in another we lose the element of surprise. Little tactical mastery in that regard. In the end it's a mega money maker. Imagine having a shiny toy that you love which in turn makes you so much money. It's a dream...

I think it's tacky because you're commenting on Norman's value, when it's not your place to. Norman doesn't like hearing that and neither does his agent. Say your PC BS and move on, IMO.

Meh, you take his temperature. If it's too high, you can share that. It's not a comment on the guys ability. It a comment on our own cap management plan. We've got a lot tied up in DBs right now.

Did he actually say Norman wasn't worth that? I thought he said something like Norman is going to cost more than we're comfortable paying.

I don't mind it. The only thing they "say" is usually just common sense that most fans who follow the team and league closely figure out on their own anyway. They just give it out there for the more casual fans that may not have had all the info. That's actually pretty cool.
