Does Dez have a drug problem or been incarcerated? No, so your contribution rings hollow. I've spend my fair share of time in Oklahoma and talked to folks who personally knew Desmond Bryant when he was an OSU Cowboy... they all say the same thing, he was a hell of an athlete but dumb as stump. I have empathy for Dez, he was dealt a crappy hand to start his life when it comes to a stable family situation, but he has over come it thanks to his god given athleticism, good on him. Dude is still as dumb as stump.
So you have spent time soliciting the opinions of people who claim to have known Dez in Oklahoma and yet you cant figure out why I mentioned mass incarceration or the war on drugs? You fail to see a link and fail to connect these obvious dots? You pretend to have empathy for his childhood and yet pretend to dismiss a huge factor and result of this childhood. (His mother was taken from him due to this btw)

Why would a person even spend "their fair share of time" speaking to people about the intelligence of someone they don't even know?

Have you spent your fair share of time speaking to people that used to know Cole Beasley? How about Sean Lee? Or could a part of your assumptions about Dezs lack of intelligence come from the way he speaks? Could his childhood have some influence on his word choices and speaking patterns?

Where does your concern for his level of intelligence based on your definition of intelligence even come from? Maybe a racial element? Or maybe it's a way of diminishing someone else to make yourself feel less insecure over your own perceived lack of measured achievements?

Either way it comes off as smelling bad.
We should be better than this.

I think he will be here until his contract is up. They will offer #2 money and he will take it or leave it. A lil health and motivation and Dez could still have a career year and a big offer.

Just which free agents did we miss out on?

It is a stupid theory.

The much more likely theory is we spread out the Romo money and saved the restructure on Dez to extend Martin this summer.

I agree with that.

The article was somewhat off base.

That being said, I'm not a Dez fan and wish they would have traded the guy (if possible) prior to signing the current deal.

The mistake Dallas made was not franchising Bryant when they had the chance. They are paying for it now. Should have franchised him twice and had the option of letting him walk. If or when his guaranteed money is paid out Dez will soon after be gone. Too much money for far too little return. This is a different FO and players like Bryant eat up too many valuable resources.

Really, how clear is it? Do you have evidence that you are not sharing that says Dez's is not on his way out?

That's not how these things work.

Reality confirms that Dez is under contract, he has never been on the trade block, and there has never been any type of tangible evidence to support the idea that the team plans on getting rid of him.

In fact, all of the circumstantial evidence also points to Dez remaining a Cowboy for at least the foreseeable future. Jerry obviously has a soft spot for him, and the organization has invested quite a bit of extra resources to keep Dez on the straight and narrow. Not to mention they've stood by him during times when he was in "trouble". They clearly believe that his talent/abilities are worth dealing with the "extra stuff" that comes along.

These things that I mention above are not disputable.

The burden would be on you to provide some evidence that supports the assertion that the team intends on getting rid Dez sometime soon. And the article in the OP is far from evidence.

Conversation over.

Considering the troubles that Terrell Owens caused off the field, your argument for keeping Dez are rational and reasoned. We'll see what happens.

I would be surprised if Dez isn't here until his contract ends in 2020. But I do think the Cowboys are starting to think about his availability and having a player of a similar skill set stepping in if needed... Ju Ju Smith is a player that has a similar skill set and can be developed for that role. After Dez's contract is up in 3 seasons it gives the Cowboys some flexibility if he develops and the cost of Dez is too much...

I don't think there are any immediate plans ro replace Dez, but this is more about looking ahead to future needs 3 to 4 years down the road... Now if you see a WR drafted in the 1st round I may feel different..

What a joke...

From the article...But honestly, those monies were desperately needed back in March when the Cowboys were losing key players to free agency and there was no way to stop the bleeding.

Who were these key players we were losing to free agency? What bleeding? Who was available that we missed out on?

It's funny how a stupid article gets posted and then a bunch of Dez haters here start chiming in agreeing with the article...

If there was truly a player they wanted they would have freed up the needed funds..

Dez had the talent to be a great player
He does not always play like that
There is a history of injuries

Let's see what this year brings
Reality is that to get to the SB right now we need Dez to be Dez
