Are TV ratings diluting thanksgiving game?

It seems like the last few years our Thanksgiving day opponents have been uninspiring. Is the NFL doing this intentionally knowing that people will watch the game no matter who we're playing so as to not waste using up a divisional or rivalry game? I can't remember the last time we played an NFCE opponent or had a "big game" on turkey day.

Yep, which is why we're playing Oakland and not San Diego.

as with everything, TV has a LOT to do with it. Weren't the thanksgiving games originally a scam to get TV?

Plus now there are three games on thanksgiving.

Our opponent had to be an AFC team this year since we're on CBS.

It would have been nice to play Denver now vs. when we did.

"Its not who you play, its when you play them."

2002 was the last time we played an NFC East opponent (wash) on thanksgiving.

Man, before I looked that up I could have sworn it was like 2006 or something. Can not believe it was that long ago, I remember that game vividly. Time flies.
