Are we common or are we contenders?

Common = we lose this week and go to 4-4

Contenders = we start to break away from the pack and aim for 1st or 2nd seed.... 5-3

And no it's not too early. I am thinking of Seattle. If we play them, we need them at cowboys stadium.

Depends on if offense scores 28-31 each game. The defense unfortunately is due for a bad week and the offense will need to pull its weight again.

Don't forget we faced 2 really bad teams last 2 weeks. A different QB that was avg would have made Sundays game much scarier.

Stafford and the Lions are a great test. I agree if Dallas goes home with a W playoffs should be definite. I'll wait for that NO game to worry bout seed.

also keep in mind that we had a million penalties last week, especially on the D, and they still held a good offensive unit in check.

For me, I always think of the team as contenders until they are out of it...but realistically, I will wait until the bye week to make my own determination...we should know by then

Was thinking the same... win this game and the team is 5-3 - sitting pretty.

Lose at the team is 4-4 and exactly where it has been for the past 2-3 years.

Lesson: It's hard to escape mediocrity.

The offense need to get it going with first drive and keep at it like they did against Denver and it will be a good test for defense, not sure which team will show up, honestly. But at with every game I'm always thinking that we'll win. I really think this year, the Cowboys are better than a mediocre team.

I don't think lions are a great test. Stack the line. Let Calvin get his.
If it wasn't for heave ho stafford to let me out jump 9 defenders Johnson they wouldn't have anything,
We can overcome that,

We kept a stalled offense, STALLED!
Me too, feel like every game should be a win.

I hope they keep the Detroit defense running around and fatigue them.
I think they are better than mediocre too... But I gave felt that way in the past... Let's see.

I can't answer that right now, but, I will say, we can beat any team in the league.

We would be a contender because we would still be in 1st place in the NFC East as for making the playoffs you play who ever where ever and if you are good enough you will win if not you will lose. Good teams can beat you in Seattle or in the parking lot. I expect Dallas to improve as the season moves forward, what or who we are in week 8 means little who and what we are in week 16 and how this team is playing means everything

Not true. You can be good enough and still lose with bonehead decisions/mistakes.

In a league where common teams are often in contention, we'll be both after next Sunday. It's always a good sign when you can stack some wins, and this team with a bit more swagger would be a good one. I guess we'll see if that happens, but right now, I'd rather just see us beat the teams we should beat and hold-serve in the NFCE and get better as the year goes on. As games go, they're all important, but this coming week is less important than the two games we just won.

Even if we lose this week, we should still host a playoff game. This division is almost too bad for us not to win it.

All that matter is reaching the postseason. Who cares about seeding and comparing ourselves to other teams?

Right now the Cowboys have one goal: get to the playoffs. After that, it's anything goes. If you've been watching the playoffs at all the last few years, you can attest to that.

The next 3 games will be the most telling this season!! Are we going to capitalize on our chances or stay a float when the east is pretty much being handed to us.

Bonehead decision and mistakes are part of what makes a team good or bad. Team is just that Team everyone coaches and players. I know some do not think Garrett knows what is going on I disagree I think he knows very well what is going on. In my view he has brought in players who are very team oriented playing for the next guy and not just themselfs. I do think it is funny how people will lay it at his feet if the offense struggles and says it is his offense yet when they are successful it is Callahan. Bottom line it is his offense and his defense and if they fail it falls on him as the HC but by the same token if they succeed it falls to Garrett and his staff as well.

I don't play the pick and choose to drive an agenda

Have to take two of the next three heading into the bye if we want to call ourselves contenders. I don't care if we blow it against Minny if we come back against NO. Taking all three would be nice, and put us in a good position to possibly even get a bye (by beating NO), but 2 wins is imperative imo.

The division is about as bad as I've seen it right now. That doesn't mean it's getting handed to us. Both the Eagles and the Redsk**ns capable of fielding good teams yet this season. Teams good enough to overtake us and to do damage in the playoffs. This doesn't look like a cakewalk to me. No matter how it goes down, we're probably going to be hovering at 10-6 or worse and fighting for playoff position into week 16 or 17.

No agenda here. YOU KNOW what I am talking about. I am a Romo supporter but he is what he is.

You are wrong, a good / great team and ONE person making a bad/untimely decision can alter the teams destiny. It's happened before bad it can happen again.

Thing is often the bad or bone head move it not just 1 person. WR falls, WR runs poor rout, OL fails to do the job can all lead to that 1 bad play and Romo takes the full heat. this is not to say he does not share in it of course he does but one way to avoid it is guys stepping up and playing big, doing the things to help their team win. In my view how far Dallas goes will all come down to players including Romo steps up their level of play
