This defense has been great in the preseason and when it continues during the season, are we going to give him credit?? or is it Parcells? Zim has adjusted well from shifting from the 4-3 to the 3-4 and has become a Parcells disciple. I know there are some ZIM haters out there but gotta give credit where credit is due...

I'll give him credit if our D looks like it did in the pre-season. He should receive the credit or the blame for he D. BP has been mentoring but Zimmer will call the games.

No, I think it's way too early for that and at this point it seems to have more to do with the personnel that Parcell's has assembled than any preseason game planning that ZIM is doing. I don't think ZIM is horrible, but I don't believe he is more than an average coach.

thank god that u have no say so in zims future then..zimmer is a very good DC..its not his fault that in 2004 parcells decided against signing any DL help, Cb help, or LB help..and its not his fault last yr they made the transistion to a 3-4 defense..but in 2003, when parcells stood back and got back in the groove..it was zimmers defense that was what won dallas the majority of them 10 games..while the offense was what it was

I won't give Zimmer "credit" until we have a truly dominating defense. Not in terms of yardage but in turnovers, defensive scores, points allowed, sacks, etc.

Zimmer still has that "bend-but-don't-break" mentallity which is based on the fear of getting beat. Anything based on fear is doomed to fail IMO.

I am praying that we do so well that a nice HC offer from another team comes Zimrod's way after the season and he accepts it. His style is not one that I like or want in Dallas.

why is zimmer being the goat, but if theres success its all about parcells? i believe last yr it was parcells who would defend his reasons for not blitzing and creating turnovers..was because he didnt trust the secondary..hasnt that been his case since he came to dallas? maybe he should just put complete faith in his team?

Zimmer has had several years to get it together yet he still has the same "bend-but-don't-break" mentallity he has always had, which is based on the "fear of getting beat". Anything based on fear is doomed to failure.

I don't like Zimmer's style because I want a defense that will create turnovers, score defensive TDs, pressure the QB, and dictate to the other team what they can do. Zimmer's philosophy is to try to limit what the offense wants to do (that's what he has stated many times). "Dictating" and "limiting" are two very different styles.

Good QBs will always find a way to beat this defense because they have too much time. No matter how good a DB is he can't cover indefinitely and eventually the QB will find him if he has enough time.

pretty simple what we have to do to be better

1) better, more consistent pass rush...especially in the 4th qtr

2) more consistency vs the run...giving up more than 4.0 yds per carry is poor, not good

3) stop blowing 4th qtr leads...you can blame kickers, injuries etc etc all you want...but nothing changes the fact that if the defense is on the field with a lead late in a game and we end up losing, the loss is ultimately the defense's fault...this seems to happen several times every yr...#1 above would help alleviate some of this problem, because the pass rush always disappears (if it appears at all) late in games

u seem to be under the impression that zimmer has the freedom to make a defensive gameplan without perameters set by parcells..the last season zimmer had any kind of freedom..what happened? 2003, #1 in the league..

yup, and do u know why qb's beat this defense? because parcells over-coaches every aspect of the game..which is his right, but these coaches today adjust to parcells, while he does not, and teams see the tendencies of parcells, and end up outcoaching him, plan and simple..until parcells decides to adjust ingame, dallas will have these close games, hopefully now with vanderjagt, dallas can win some of them close games..

defense shouldnt be a problem in dallas..what u should be worried about is the OL, and the running game

Well, when we get to Philly, be better be running a 4-3, or it will be a long day.

Zimmer is an aggressive coach, who has been forced to play a re-acting defense due to our inabillity to score points, for the last eon:)

BP has said more than once how important Zimmer has been to the success of our defense.

it sounds, from BP at least, that Zimmer is a pretty agressive guy, remember the BP quip about him taking Zimmer's preseason playbook, and cutting it in half? he's mentioned at least twice, that he's a very creative coordinator
