Are we past the "pinch-me if this is real" phase on Miles?

Or do we need more.

I'm leaning toward the latter.

I know he's gone off, but I want to see him ruin an NFC east opponent. The Cowboys are getting to be more like the Giants and Eagles in the sense that teams that don't see them often will struggle mightily with our personnel on offense and defense.

It's a show me league week to week, but can we bank on this guy now? What do you all think we can expect from him from here out.

Well, teams will game plan for him for sure, which could finally allow Roy Williams to do some damage. It's clear Romo trusts him big time and he has playmaking ability. What happens when he is jammed at line or double covered? He is not a given week to week but he has been very impressive. It's crazy to think but Austin could be the Pro Bowl wideout this year, not Williams. Who would have thunk it?

No. 2 good games is nice, but if he can string together 13-17 more in a row.. Ok :)

TonyRomo#9

i think if he has a good game against seattle we will know for sure..

im allready pretty sure weve got something here. just cause of how it has happened, i could see, maybe coverage gets busted a few times, like if we had only seen his greenbay game, where it is just a couple times deep on goes, but he is coming up big on crossing patterns, and outs, and slants and stuff.. i think we found our second undrafted free agent stud..

TonyRomo#9

if he can take the lead in recieving by the end of the season, we might know we have the next big thing...

If I'm so pretty, why am I available?

I am sure he is a pretty good receiver. More importantly, he and Romo have chemistry. You probably can't put up better numbers, but I would bet Miles is an impact player for us. We didn't invest the high draft pick, but we invested the time. Sometimes, I think they equal themselves out.

IMO man, I say enjoy watching him surf the momentum wave now and hold off on the ROH reservation until you see what he does next year. Not to be a downer here, but a lot of guys have one great year and then never live up to expectations after that. I think michael turner is a good example of that this year. I am not a cowboys fan, but I had fun watching your boy last week. The league needs guys like him to play the way he did. It makes it fun so I hope it continues. Just not this week. :)

He needs to show he can do it against some of the better corners.

both KC and Atlanta were in the bottom quarter of the league in pass defense, and Atl had just lost thier best corner.

Keep up good production for the rest of the year and I'll believe. I don't mean stellar numbers like the last two games, just good production.

Definitely more time...2 games does not make a career anymore than it solidifies them as a regular starter...We've been teased like this before with both Austin & Crayton only for them to disappear.

Let's see how he continues to do

Maybe see how he does against the better corners and especially when teams start giving him double coverage. At his current rate he could realistically see 1,200+ yards this year and if that happens... it will be nice. :D

We caught a glimpse of what he could do last year in Green Bay. Then it became "Can he ever stay healthy long enough to make a true impact?" Well, now we know.

I guess his focus level has gone up... but it looks like the light is on, the next step is commanding Dbl teams!

I'm going to say that a great receiver can be held in check ONLY if the coordinator allows him to be. Case and point, Philly was able to get DeSean Jackson wide opened while being doubled covered by simply playing games with the skins head.

You keep having DeSean take a deep in, you watch to see if the Safety ever loses his concentration, then you pump fake while DeSean takes an inside move, (he must sell it by turning his head towards the QB as if that's his actual route) meanwhile, the QB pumps to one side, causes the safety on the other side to peak at the QB, the receiver makes a hard full sprint cut out towards the corner, too late.

A great coordinator will simply set a safety and a corner up. Sometimes it takes the entire game to set that corner up for 1 big play, as we did with Austin on the deep slant (or 30 yard slant). Garrett and Romo recognized the blitz, audibled into max protection, Austin used his speed and just toasted the corner.

Austin has greatness in him, it's up to the coordinator to put him into position to succeed, and then it's up to the O-Line and Romo to deliver.

Still gotta see more. If Seattle puts Trufant on him all game and he dominates him? Call me convinced. Until then? I don't believe the hype. Falcons secondary is terrible. Just terrible. Chiefs secondary? I'm not sure to be honest. Their pass defense is #11th in the league. Not bad by any means. But they're such a terrible team I just don't know.

he needs to keep it up and stay healthy throughout the year. also we need to see if he can do it against the better corners in the league, then we need to see if he can do it against double teams. and then after all that we need to see what happens when he has a bad game, or multiple bad games. can he pull himself back up and shake it off or will he fold? and then next year there will be tape on him, he will have to adapt after that, can he do it? then what happens when he gets paid? will he take the mentality of 'i have arrived' or will he still try to prove himself because he is an undrafted guy? on top of all of that can he handle the pressure of being a star i dallas? remember when romo blew up? everything was great, then the 'honeymoon' phase wore off and even though he has put up better #s than many a QB before him and way better than expected, everybody is on his case cause they raised the expectation bar for him to meet what he has done and they expect it every game to be 3TD 311yds 0int. now people will want 6 catches 171yds 2TDs and 0 drops every game, and we dont know if he can handle the pressure or critism.

lets say i am hopefully sceptical. i want it to be for real. i hope it is for real, but we need a bigger body of work.

I really love how he now plucks the ball out of the air, similar to how Crayton used to. He also has some of the sharpest cuts that i've seen in a long time.

That's it.

Austin also flashed big play ability earlier in his career. His return for a TD during the ill-fated playoff game in Seattle comes to mind. He's been showing ability for a while now. He just lacked some polish and had some bad luck with injuries.

I think he's the second coming of Butch Johnson, Golden Richards and the great Santinie all rolled in to one.
