Ok, guys someone pointed this out to me, say the colts get beat again by New England or lose in the super bowl, and the colts family fire Tony Dungy;

First, if that is what parcells is waiting on, Dungy played with Cowher and coached with him at Steelers best i remember, and i think he ran 3-4 with steelers. That would give you a 3-4 defensive coordinator, and he would have defense fixed by time Cowher came aboard.

I am thinking now, remember Jerry Jones said that parcells and jerry had a plan in place, that could be for him to get good assistants, that would agree to play for cowher in 2008, for the 3-4.

The other defensive coordinator that is a hot topic besides wade phillips is the bears defensive coordinator, that coaches under lovie smith best i remember for the bears. Then, you have Dan Henning helping on offense, that would give you 2 top coaches, groomed for 2008. All that is needed then is a good special teams coach.

We all know dehaven did pretty good with what he had, personnel wise.

By backing up with what i think parcells is staying, first, he has been in headquarters at dallas trying to get coaches and players, that he has contacted free agents agents. Then, there are reports that he is going to the senior bowl next week, or this coming week. If parcells is going to do that, then jerry jones and parcells has a plan.

To me they are waiting for the other teams still playing to get over, that would be either the bears, patriots, colts and saints-(i would leave the saints out because ex cowboy asst coach payton just signed his players 3-4 year contracts, so that leaves coaches for the bears, patriots and colts.

If it was wade phillips as everyone is thinking now, he would in my opinion already be here, and not stay in san diego.

so to me, main plan all along was for pacells to get assistant coaches that cowher is familar with, and that parcells approves of for playing the 3-4, so when parcells leaves after 2007 cowher is ready to take over.

just my opinion, what do you guys think?

1st off, Dungy is a big proponent of the Tampa cover 2 D, he is a 4-3 man, and loves smaller, quicker players on that side of the ball

but BP could be waiting on playoff coaches to become available, or Dick LaBeau to figure out if he wants to stay under the new Pitt coaching staff

It is obvious we are waiting something out.

Whether it be the Patriots, what the Steelers do, something.

The dice are rolling.

"There are a lot of moving parts here."

I'm tired of that phrase.

Ok, what i saw about dungy he coached with the steelers, when they were running the 3-4, and cowher played with him for the 49ers. so they knew each other, im not saying that dungy doesnt like the 4-3, he does, but he has coached the 3-4, and he has coached the 42 cover which dallas has ran in the defensive backfield

Im not saying its tony dungy, it may be, im not sure, but i do know parcells is waiting on someone to come free, and to me, if it is cowher in 2008 to coach the cowboys, dungy knows cowher, and the 3-4 defense.

Tony Dungy Career: While in college at the University of Minnesota, Dungy played quarterback. He then went on to play safety for the Pittsburgh Steelers from 1977 - 1978 and also in 1979 for the San Francisco 49'ers.
Dungy kicked off his coaching career in 1980, as the defensive backs coach at his alma mater, the University of Minnesota. In 1981, at age twenty-five, Dungy became assistant coach for the Steelers, and then three years later was promoted to defensive coordinator.
Dungy then moved to the Kansas City Chiefs as defensive backs coach from 1989-1991 and defensive coordinator from 1992 - 1995 with the Minnesota Vikings.
In 1996 he was named head coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He remained head coach of the Buccaneers until 2001 when he was fired by the team for repeated losses. In January of 2002 Dungy was made head coach of the Indianapolis Colts.

or it could be even lebeau, dick, that coaches with the steelers, that he knows or learns cowher is coming to dallas in 2008, and he comes here in 2007 to get defense ready for cowher. its someone that knows defense, like dungy or lebeau or def coordinator for the bears.

I do think the original plan was to get don capers that had worked with chris palmer for the texans, but capers turned them down finally today.

I am of the opinion its experienced coaches like dan henning that parcells knows, and fond of. Thats what were waiting on, an experienced defensive coordinator, and a special teams coach that parcells is aware of.

My best buddy is a 40+ year Colts fan so i follow them closer than any team other than the Boys. NOONE i have heard as indicated that Tony would be replaced if they lose. Polian and Irsay love the man and believe in him. He'll be there for several more years.

Why is anyone taking this thread serious?

Lets look at some of the premises

Colts will fire their head coach who will come be a coodinator for the cowboys

Another scenario has the Bears allowing their coordinator of the top defense to leave and come here in a lateral move

Same with Phillips san diego gives us permission to steal their guy?

And Biggest of all Jerry and Bill are determining who they want to hire theis year on the slight chance that they may get Cowher next year and wants to get coaches he likes?

This thread gets a big wth from me :lmao:

While the Dungy thought process is a bit over the top, the thread's premise isn't outlandish.

We could have been waiting something out.

Dungy? Are you kidding me? Since when did we become the washington Commanders...hiring former coaches to become our coordinators and giving them boat loads of cash

Dungy won't go back to being a coordinator, even in a place where he's a perfect fit. He's won 65% of his games as a head coach, and 75% in Indy. Amazing that he may get fired while Parcells gets an extension for his mediocrity.
