Are we witnessing another Miles Austin situation here?

Remember, it took an injury to Roy Williams to finally give Austin a chance as a starter. The Cowboys didn't know what they had until it got forced on them.

I can't help but wonder that this might be the same case with another #19 in Flournoy. Lamb's out. Tolbert hasn't stepped up. Mingo isn't ready. Flournoy, you're up. A guy they cut and put on the practice squad a month ago. That's how much they thought of him. Only mentioning his strong special teams play, just like they used to do with Austin.

It was one game but he looked really good. Like this is not a fluke good.

I'll be interested to see if this has changed his perception with the same front office that couldn't recognize what they had in Austin and what they might have in Flournoy and whether Flournoy can keep Miles Austin-ing the opportunities given to him.

I remember the Jets had supposedly offered a 2nd or 3rd for Miles that off season.

We knew we like him, but that does explain why they didn't get him out on the field more prior to the break out game.

But...we were told Dak doesn't make players around him better.

He’s big and fast which I never realized. I looked up his bio last week and saw 4.4 40. It’s showing on those end arounds. He’s looking like he could be what everyone had hoped Tolbert would be or even better…

And honestly with the way Pickens is , and the attentions he gets, I wouldn’t be surprised to see flournoy be the main target in games garnering 100 yard games in a row

And they released him in tc

My concern is they intend to work Mingo back as the 3.
With past regimes it’s a legitimate concern. But with this regime seems like they’re able to evaluate better. Nate Thomas looked like Trent Williams out there.

Nate Thomas = Erik Williams / Trent Williams
Flounoy=Austin
Shemar James= a bigger Dexter Coakley

These guys are all starting by years end.

This looks to be a bit optimistic. Irony?

You've got a great eye for talent.

Break out game. Hopefully this is the beginning of a star. Man how good could this offense be with Lamb, GP and Flo becoming Miles 2.0.

Yeaaaaaaah boiiiiyyeeee! I've been noticing outlier anomalies in his limited stats when you look at last year and the first couple of games this year. The data suggests that he's WAY more efficient of a catcher than Tolber (roster leading efficiency on small sample of couple hundred total lifetime yards and like 20 catches or so when you consider production per rep and target to reception ratio).

Everything @Risen Star mentioned above is promising, plus his 9.89 RAS shows up on field, plus 19 reps on bench, plus he's 202 lbs, plus he's a blocking WR, plus special teams. Tolbert ought to be holding his beer on the sideline after Sunday's on-field clinic.

But I don't know why guys are comping him to Miles Austin. Flournoy looks like a much more fluid of an athlete to me. Austin got good over time. He was fast but stiff looking. This guy's been performing for us on limited reps since he's arrived, he's just hard to notice because those reps have been too far in betoween. Now he shown he can handle 10 or more targets in a game and produce like a WR1b if we need him.

I'll leave it at this: Holden's also got more upside than Tolbert, and I think these two or Mingo and Flournoy wil round out next years sans Tolber WR room.
