Are we witnessing another Miles Austin situation here?

Sometimes our front office looks like they haven't got a brain in their heads.. It was obvious to any of us who watched Flourney in the preseason he was one of the best players on the field on the Cowboys... This is why we all raised an eyebrow when he was cut! That was a ridiculous move and it was only made to placate Jerry and Dak's pet cat Jaylon Tolbert, who by the way, SUCKS! As long as Jerruh is alive, we're doomed..
They cut him because they knew he wouldn't be claimed. They quickly got him back on the roster.

There is no way they knew it was an absolute truth he wouldn't be claimed.. That was a gamble that worked, but a stupid one considering how great this guy has played when given chances... They should of cut Jaylon Tolbert based on what we've seen. Tolbert has never looked as good as Flourney did when he got his chances, NEVER..

Based on what happened, they knew better than you.

Remember, it took an injury to Roy Williams to finally give Austin a chance as a starter. The Cowboys didn't know what they had until it got forced on them.

I can't help but wonder that this might be the same case with another #19 in Flournoy. Lamb's out. Tolbert hasn't stepped up. Mingo isn't ready. Flournoy, you're up. A guy they cut and put on the practice squad a month ago. That's how much they thought of him. Only mentioning his strong special teams play, just like they used to do with Austin.

It was one game but he looked really good. Like this is not a fluke good.

I'll be interested to see if this has changed his perception with the same front office that couldn't recognize what they had in Austin and what they might have in Flournoy and whether Flournoy can keep Miles Austin-ing the opportunities given to him.

Personally, i'm going to have to see a hamstring issue with him before I can draw any comps.

Unless he plays well enough that Dallas comes out of this year believing he can be the No. 2 receiver and lets Pickens walk. I don't think he'll get enough targets, though, this year for the team to feel that way unless Lamb and Pickens miss a lot of time and possibly Turpin too.
If they are having the faintest ideas of that they need to have him on the field full time until Lamb returns and feature him when the chances are there.

I think we need all 3 of these guys if we want to peak in December. History shows Dak needs guys WAY open to perform like we need him to. The money we didn't pay Parsons will pay Pickens. Flournoy is a year 2, 5th rounder, so we can just keep developing him and show Tolbert the door. Holden or Mingo can round out the roster. Turpin keeps his spot. What do think about that arrangement?

I don't know if they are. Where fans have visions of Austin, the team may have reasons it still thinks more of Tolbert and Turpin than Flournoy. I'm not saying I agree with them, but it's a lot easier for us as fans to look at what he did Sunday and believe that should guarantee him more playing time.

But...we were told Dak doesn't make players around him better.

Flourney fought for the ball on that one play like his career depended on it. He made the play. I’m not going to knock dak, he is playing out of this world right now. My only hope if we make the playoffs is that performance continues

I think Sunday was a test to see if his production score and efficiency were a fluke, or if he just needed reps. I just speculating based on the fact that he got 16 snaps vs Peckers and he caught two passes for 14 yards and had one carry for 12 yards during the game (solid production). Then, they doubled his reps vs the Jets to 34 offensive snaps and he pulled in 6 receptions for 114 yards and ran the ball 2 times for 10 yards. So, he is indeed a solid prospect.

Would be really nice if they hit on this pick. You need about 5 of these types of picks to hit to make up for Mazi alone!

Flournoy was a 6th rounder.

He doesn't get credit for what he's handsomely paid to do. In fact, it's about damn time. It's year 10 and he's been the highest paid player EVER for 2 years...

...and for this his dutiful lemmings demand we "acknowledge" that he's finally doing something - AGAINST THE JETS?

Insufferable Cheerleaders.

It does look that way. I prefer to give it a big longer than a couple of games to decide how solid he might be, but it looks good so far. I liked the pick when we made it because he had good size and speed on a lower-college level, which hurt his draft projection. I like going for the smaller-school guys late who had high production or great measurables but just didn't play on the big stage to refine their skills or make scouts feel totally sold on them. I think you are more likely to hit on some of them than the big-school players who made it to the late rounds because they didn't live up to their potential.

No ....... i think he is just a good football player who finally got his chance ......kudos to Dak for continually going to the kid.

The gamble paid off, but, there was a chance someone signed him so that was stupid... Everyone on this forum thought the same thing... This time Jethro got lucky...

Get lost. Go follow another team! Seriously.

For the record, it's only been 1.4 seasons that Dak has been paid handsomely, so het it right.
