Wow, even better. I must be thinking of Bland or something, but I love it when we get those late rounders putting in work on the battle field. It helps make up for the Mazi Smiths and Schoonmakers of the world! LOLFlournoy was a 6th rounder.
Here's what's good about young Flournoy. If you get all his reps from last year and compare his snap count with his production, the data still looks VERY promissing. It does look that way. I prefer to give it a big longer than a couple of games to decide how solid he might be, but it looks good so far. I liked the pick when we made it because he had good size and speed on a lower-college level, which hurt his draft projection. I like going for the smaller-school guys late who had high production or great measurables but just didn't play on the big stage to refine their skills or make scouts feel totally sold on them. I think you are more likely to hit on some of them than the big-school players who made it to the late rounds because they didn't live up to their potential.
I think having Pickens and Lamb paid well is a lot to have invested at the WR position when the defense needs several pieces, one of them ideally a proven commodity via free agency which will cost you.I think we need all 3 of these guys if we want to peak in December. History shows Dak needs guys WAY open to perform like we need him to. The money we didn't pay Parsons will pay Pickens. Flournoy is a year 2, 5th rounder, so we can just keep developing him and show Tolbert the door. Holden or Mingo can round out the roster. Turpin keeps his spot. What do think about that arrangement?
Austin was 6'3" 215 - 220. With probably 150 of that being below the waist. Dude had borderline Saquon Barkley legs which made him damn near impossible for a DB to tackle.Miles Austin had Robocop hips. Flournoy has much more agility to go with his speed.
Remember, it took an injury to Roy Williams to finally give Austin a chance as a starter. The Cowboys didn't know what they had until it got forced on them.
I can't help but wonder that this might be the same case with another #19 in Flournoy. Lamb's out. Tolbert hasn't stepped up. Mingo isn't ready. Flournoy, you're up. A guy they cut and put on the practice squad a month ago. That's how much they thought of him. Only mentioning his strong special teams play, just like they used to do with Austin.
It was one game but he looked really good. Like this is not a fluke good.
I'll be interested to see if this has changed his perception with the same front office that couldn't recognize what they had in Austin and what they might have in Flournoy and whether Flournoy can keep Miles Austin-ing the opportunities given to him.
I won't disagree with that. We've seen nothing so far that indicates that his play was an anomaly. Here's what's good about young Flournoy. If you get all his reps from last year and compare his snap count with his production, the data still looks VERY promissing.
Teams look at the waivers as calculated risks. They did not think Flournoy would be claimed based on his preseason production, and they were correct. It was foolish to keep Tolbert and Mingo on the team while putting Flournoy at risk on waivers. Those two haven’t done much and should have been cut already.
Then explain CD still getting over 1000 when Dak was out so long last year. Dak hasn't elevated any receiver with the possible exception of this year but it remains to be seen. How many receivers have been nobodies, played under Dak and then gotten lucrative contracts everywhere? Exactly. Is Dak capable of it? He sure is this year, but he hasn't before. If the QB doesn't elevate receivers, how did CD Lamb have multiple 1000 yard seasons.... and how does a guy like Flournoy have breakout games? Who's throwing them the ball?
How are the Cowboys offense currently ranked number one? Is it due to half halfback passes?
What round did Flournoy get picked by Dallas in, seems like it was the 6th round that is what you call good value. Flournoy has put himself in the conversation for wide receiver 3 all of the sudden. He’s big and fast which I never realized. I looked up his bio last week and saw 4.4 40. It’s showing on those end arounds. He’s looking like he could be what everyone had hoped Tolbert would be or even better…
NoYou wish.

it's not a legitimate question. Now he has good tape. Of course they wouldn't wave him if they wanted to keep him.No need for this
But players are picked off waivers all the time.........
A bigger question.....would they now waive him again, I doubt it
How can anybody hate him right now he is playing at a very high level at the moment. Most of Daks's passes are thrown with precision accuracy and Dak is also using his legs to his advantage for 1st downs and touchdowns. What is not to like about Prescott, and his tremendous QB play at this time. He looks like 2023 Dak, he is playing great. And the Cowboys had the number one ranked offense before when Dak had CD and Amari.
We are all prone to exaggerate here from time to time due to emotions or the need for banter. But WillieBeamen straight up lies alot when it comes to Dak. He is ascending to that elite stratosphere of LeeBlair and MountaineerCowboy when it comes to outright Dak hate.
You mean paying him after he leaves and is playing for other teams? Are we witnessing another Miles Austin situation here?
They can pay Pickens and a defensive player. They have plenty of late rounders and undrafted players that are cheap.I think having Pickens and Lamb paid well is a lot to have invested at the WR position when the defense needs several pieces, one of them ideally a proven commodity via free agency which will cost you.
