Are we witnessing another Miles Austin situation here?

It was foolish to keep Tolbert and Mingo on the team while putting Flournoy at risk on waivers. Those two haven’t done much and should have been cut already.
Man, I had this conversation wit Pass2Run. I knew he was special already, and it's a miracle some WR hungry team didn't snatch him up on waivers. I can't believe it

They can pay Pickens and a defensive player. They have plenty of late rounders and undrafted players that are cheap.
Yep, plus we've got 4 #1's over the next 2 years. I'm saying 3 or all 4 for defense. We can grab RB in the 2nd round. We don't need to draft on offense unless we see a special talent somewhere.

Just think.........Lamb, Pickens and Flournoy :yourock::flagwave:
Man coverage on either one is an automatic catch.........

All three on the field will OPEN the running game.....giving DC's headaches (lol)
I like this Post, it is true. That is an impressive nasty trio of wide receivers for a defense to deal with. When this offense gets fully healthy, it should run like a well-oiled machine. This team can beat you with both the run and pass, Javontae Williams deserves to wear 33 and Dallas has talented depth on the Oline. What if this defense can improve, I want to see what Juanyeh Thomas can do starting in place of Malik Hooker at safety. Also, Eberflus made the right call using Donavan Wilson up near the line of scrimmage during the jets game, Wilson is a hitter and a wrap up tackler. Revel will help this secondary, and this defense will get better. I do believe that Dallas is an improving football team.

Terrific 1st game in a meaningful role, but it was just one game. Be consistent and produce in the snaps he receives and there is a chance for a bigger role. We are seeing Turpin getting hurt often this yr, perhaps he takes on his role. Would love to resign Pickens to go along with him, Lamb, Turpin and we don’t have to draft another receiver
Good Post, that's right Dallas would have the wide receiver room set for a while. The draft then can be used to strengthen this defense come April.

I don’t think they can ignore his play. I don’t care about stats, and neither should the coaches. I think gameplay, and his ability to execute will help them make a good decision. He can’t go back on the practice squad now…
Yeah he be picked off it in seconds

I know the worry here is Flournoy's snaps get cut in favor of Mingo, but the real issue for me is what they do with Tolbert. Tolbert can help the team but to me he's already peaked. He's not going to get better than he is.

There is so much more upside with Flournoy. And Mingo is also under contract for next year. That makes me feel a lot better about the WR spot opposite Lamb in the event a deal can't get done with Pickens.

lets hope he gets same # of targets against carolina, and see if he can do it again.
If so he should start against wash, see how he does there.
But knowing how football mentality works, no matter how good he does, as soon as lamb and tolbert
are healthy enough, they will replace him.
He may still play and get 2 targets per game but that is all.

players who are starters or have a name, they are hard to replace due to football mentality.

My idea is that the best player that week should start, forget names, starter, etc, who is the best right now?

That said the jets are 0-5 for a reason, so would like to see him against wash.
I Like that Idea where the hot player at the time is the starter, seems like it would strengthen the team because of the competition. Also, I figure these coaches are waiting to see if Flournoy has another similar game like he had against the Jets, if he has another 70-to-100-yard performance he may be number 3 the rest of the year. Turpin then can be your 4 and concentrate on the return game.

Dallas got lucky plain and simple, Flournoy has size and speed and he is a load to bring down after the catch. Plus, in interviews I have seen of him he seems to be a humble young man good for the locker room as well.

Remember, it took an injury to Roy Williams to finally give Austin a chance as a starter. The Cowboys didn't know what they had until it got forced on them.

I can't help but wonder that this might be the same case with another #19 in Flournoy. Lamb's out. Tolbert hasn't stepped up. Mingo isn't ready. Flournoy, you're up. A guy they cut and put on the practice squad a month ago. That's how much they thought of him. Only mentioning his strong special teams play, just like they used to do with Austin.

It was one game but he looked really good. Like this is not a fluke good.

I'll be interested to see if this has changed his perception with the same front office that couldn't recognize what they had in Austin and what they might have in Flournoy and whether Flournoy can keep Miles Austin-ing the opportunities given to him.

Speaking of which I love those uniforms . That should be there SB uniforms in Feb

I remember the Jets had supposedly offered a 2nd or 3rd for Miles that off season.

We knew we like him, but that does explain why they didn't get him out on the field more prior to the break out game.
Austin? Injuries. Couldn't stay on the field.

Flo? Who knows, might be our horrific ability to evaluate players.

With past regimes it’s a legitimate concern. But with this regime seems like they’re able to evaluate better. Nate Thomas looked like Trent Williams out there.

Nate Thomas = Erik Williams / Trent Williams
Flounoy=Austin
Shemar James= a bigger Dexter Coakley

These guys are all starting by years end.
Flo has much better hands than Austin.

No OL on this roster comes remotely close to Erik Williams before the accident. He was already being talked about as the possible best OL of all time.

Yeah I remember a lot of soft tissue injuries with Miles and he refused the deep tissue work for the myofacisal release.

They probably should be starting, BUT I really appreciate the progress Turpin has made as a wr as well.

He had one good season and one slightly below average season. He did get 1,000 yds, but led the NFL in drops in his subpar 1,000 yd season.

Even worse, Tolbert has severely limited upside and Mingo has been a bust since he entered the NFL. So, we tried to stash the one w/ the most talent/upside on the PS while keeping the limited and the bust. Typical Jerry trash.

Yep. When Mingo gets healthy we should let him and Holden battle it out to take Tolbert's spot. That prob gives us both a little more attitude and finesse in the corps than we have rolling with Tolbert. I hate to bag on him, but we've got high upside guys we need to be grooming to replace him.

But for now Turpin and Flournoy need to be getting all the #3 reps once Lamb is back in the fold. Dak needs these boys wide open.

Then explain CD still getting over 1000 when Dak was out so long last year. Dak hasn't elevated any receiver with the possible exception of this year but it remains to be seen. How many receivers have been nobodies, played under Dak and then gotten lucrative contracts everywhere? Exactly. Is Dak capable of it? He sure is this year, but he hasn't before.

A receiver going to another team and getting a big contract elsewhere has no bearing on the previous quarterback in all cases. Ive seen offensive systems get receivers paid as well.

Amari Cooper was a very talented receiver. But he apparently wasn't good enough to stay on a team.

I thought we lost Mingo next year, but you're right, we have him through 2026. So if we keep Pickens, him, Lamb, Turpin, Flournoy and Mingo is looking pretty deep. And that's without knowing how Holden might develop.

That's exactly what I'm thinking. Tolbert knows this is prob his last year reppin' the star. Hopefully, he gets a little bag somewhere like Cedric Wilson did in Miami or wherever he went.
