The 2025 Dallas Cowboys will be a quality football team

If they stay relatively healthy and Schottenheimer is a competent coach, they will compete for a wild card spot.

I don’t see them as championship contenders or getting over the hump finally.

i think they will make the playoffs but not sure they are good enough to make the NFC championship game.

On D, let’s see how we do against the run, that will be key and our nemesis since the rams PO game years ago. Must improve there before saying a SB team.

Just a question but other than getting one marquis Wide Receiver, which proven aquisitions now propell them ahead of the Eagles and Skins who both picked up free agents and draft picks?

IMO, our season is going to hinge on the run game. Lets see where that takes us.

aside from drafting inexperienced rookie Tyler Booker, what makes the offensive line significantly better?

The RB room is completely devoid of a proven NFL Bell Cow running back. Its a corp of underachievers and rookies

That's exactly my point in asking the question; " where's the evidence of REAL proven improvement"?

Signing a RB like Josh Jacob's, D Henry, Saquon, etc would have been evidence.

Signing a Trey Smith or Ronnie Smith would have been evidence that the offensive line has improved.

We've done neither.

LOL, I might have well written this myself. I agree with every word. We have to hope for the best. Athletes compete. Ordinary people compete in sports, games, what have you. They're trying to win. But that's not always the case with team ownership. They're not always trying to do everything they can to win. That's what is frustrating with the Cowboys because we know our front office is half butting it. We have to hope things turn out well, given the level of effort put into improving the team.

And apparently hope is mostly what's left for us. I can buy hope

I'm buying right now, you just never know what may happen. As of right now, I'm liking what I've seen from this first time head coach that every cowboy fan hates.
I voted buy ,let's see what these coaches can do with this new group of players. I believe Dallas makes the play offs and surprises in a positive way.

well i am factoring Dak being healthy, if nothing else he can beat other NFCE trams.

For the purposes of this thread/poll: The definition of a "quality football team " is a legitimate playoff team, with a reasonable expectation to contend
are the cowboys improved? yes, adding Booker, Eze and Pickens. but have they plugged all their holes? most probably not. we had way too many holes. we went cheap in FA again. we filled up a few holes with JAGs and journey men. the eagles, coming off superbowl domination, added similar nice pieces in draft. so did washington. we are still 3rd best team in the division. now again, compared to last season this team maybe improved. but so did everybody else and everyone can claim the same. we may have slightly better record, but this team will beat last year's team for sure. may not be fully reflected in the record. with that said, we may sneak into playoffs, but unless every move, every player, every pick and every trade and FA works out perfectly this is not a superbowl team by any stretch of imagination.

but given improvements on offense (how could you not when you get rid of Zeke and add Pickens and Booker). everyone will get excited by more scoring. at the end of the year, lets say we finish 9-8, then everyone will point to next year, hey we went from 7-10 to 9-8 and the 7-10 year was a rebuild. etc. and the excitment and hopefullness will continue.

exactly what Jerry wants from all of this. milk it one year at a time.
I wonder how many pickens jersey's jerry will sell.

I have no faith in the organization and do not believe Brian Schottenheimer is going to magically turn things around. Seven wins sounds about right for 2025.
7 to 9 wins keeps you from drafting a high potential QB too. I’d rather go 2-15 than 7-9.
Not to say you can’t get a great QB but, statistically, I’d guess it’s a lot more difficult

After all of these years we have to hit on a coach eventually lol.
perhaps, and Jerry will ruin him too. we had parcells and Jerry ruined it. that's what jerry does. if things go well, he will hog the cameras, take credit for everything, will meddle to no end and just screw it up. just wait and see.

I think several of these guys whom I think you're referring to might be better around other teammates and a new system.. Elam, for example, will likely be better in Dallas than in Buffalo.
better does not equal good. and you are guessing. or should I say deep inside you are hopeful because you are a cowboys fan

that's what I said last year. let lance play because with Rush we know what we got and going nowhere, but we traded for lance, so let him play it out.....playing rush was utterly stupid.

Agree. It was the perfect time to see why we gave up a 4th......but that delusional owner probably actually thought we had a chance of making the playoffs.

If he played Lance we might have at least wound up with Will Campbell instead of Tyler Booker......

Since you defined it...Contend for what exactly? They are absolutely in the playoff picture with the offseason moves after Pickens, but if you mean contend for a SB it's a big no. If you mean contend for the playoffs it's a yes

Pickens is a conundrum imo. If he has a fantastic year he’s gonna want 100 million right when Micah’s deal is up.
