Are you excited for training camp/preseason or is it meaningless?

This might be first year I choose not to watch preseason games. I've always gotten excited when they run it 35 times and guys like Phillip Tanner dominate only to never use him or the running game when it counts.

Think I'll lower my expectations this year and tune in when it counts. Or is there value in watching preseason?

I mean it is something to see and a lot of fun for people to evaluate and judge, but ultimately there really isn't much that translates into the regular season. When they play the first game is when you actually can start to see the make-up of the team.

You can't really tell anything much in preseason. But I enjoy watching football and I'll be excited that it's back.

You're asking a guy that pays extra to get the preseason All-22 package.

If you learn to watch and analyze individual players, it makes football fun regardless of the win/loss record.

Love it. It's a time to see all the fluff you've seen on video, and countless articles pre draft/post draft, who can actually play, and who can't.

I will be watching, but yes it is mostly meaningless. You can't get too caught up in what happens in those games. What matters most is coming out of those four games healthy.

I enjoy it of course. Also it's fun to watch young guys fight for their dream.

The last time I was excited for a training camp / preseason was before the 2008 season. Now I am kinda ho-hum about it. If we were to ever hire a real coach I would get excited again. When I expect more of the same 8 - 8 or worse and our coach blowing at last two games with bad clock / game management, it is hard to get excited.

I would never, ever go out of my way to watch even a microsecond of it, but invariably I do see a bit of it depending on if I get marooned on a Saturday night. Having said that, I totally understand why some people really love it.

I'm always interested in the development of young players but as it pertains to the 2014 season it's meaningless.

Granted, it's NFL light; not quite the same as the regular season. But after 7 months of waiting...I am definitely going to be watching. For me, it is must see TV. Sure, the majority of the game we will be watching guy's on the cusp of their career's end. Guy's who may never play football again. We will also see alot of stupid football and young players make mistakes young players make. We will see guy's make the preseason probowl to never be seen again until next preseason...or we may see them again in the regular season but realize that they only looked good because of the competition they were facing in preseason was a tad bit lower then the competition they will be facing in the regular season. Coaches will be vanilla in their approach rendering the results of each game truly meaningless. But still, I'll be watching it like the last game football I get to watch before the world ends.

I disagree with those who say it is meaningless.

You see pre-snap penalties, and lots of them, you will see them in the real season.

You see the first string defense not being able to get pressure, you will see that in the real season if it is first on firsts.

You see second year receivers in the wrong spot causing turn overs, you'll see that in real games.

You see first string corners and safeties not being able to cover, you'll see that in regular season games.

First string defense cannot stop the run, then be ready for this when they count.

Every year for the last four there has been something in pre-season the fans discount because it has been negative, and every time it shows up when the real games count.

To dismiss what you see when the big boys are on the field is usually a mistake by fans. Followed immediately by 11 page threads as people make excuses because it is preseason.

I'm super excited.

The scores of preseason games mean almost nothing, but everything else tells plenty, IMO.

Do they sell viagra for fandom b/c I need it.

Weird, because I actually like some of the things they did this offseason....

I think for a veteran team that is proven it can be meaningless.

For a team like the Dallas Cowboys I believe every day matters if we want to build a winner by seasons end.

I'll never forget Wades team looking sloppy all preseason and then getting him fired early in the year.
