I do like seeing names of guys that are younger than Jerry and didn’t have some good ol boy connection to him.

My hope is we can hire a younger, more innovative defensive mind that can make the most of the (lack of) talent we have. For far too long we relied on guys who had a past but not much future.

It is way past time for some new ideas that are ahead of the game instead of chasing it.
Rod Wright DL of the Houston Texans fits that mold....young and upcoming DC who has coached the best DL in the NFL

mr DStar--- i will wholeheartedly agree with your reasoning if that turns out to be the issue?
I say that knowing Jerry and company , of course... which gives me the confidence that it very well could turn out that way.

Would love to be a fly on the wall in the DC meetings with Jerry..... I mean there has to be two schools of thoughts by these candidates.....it's either

1) I can coach up the players you have, the talent is there (saves Jerry money)
2) Talent sucks, I need to know you are gonna bring in Talent on the defense or I am not coming. (costing Jerry money)

Bottom line with Jerry its about figuring out how to NOT spend money.....sell the go big and all in strategy but do more of the same

I said no because they’re only looking at coaches/tetreads. There are lots of people who aren’t coaches who could coach better than the ones that are coaches, including Troy Polamalu.

Whoever the clown will pick he’ll stuff it up.
I don’t trust him one bit

Hire all the good candidates as co-co-DC's then trade them to other teams as needed.
Now you're talking get them all Jerry can afford it he only pays our head coach a third of what head coaches should be paid .

Stop going cheap Jerry by the best stop disappointing your fans by trying to save money you have more than you could ever spend in the length of time you have left

Thus far, yes as they are interviewing a lot of good coaches. If Jerry/Stephen fail to get us a good DC due to not wanting to spend money, however, I will quickly change my vote.
The best head coaches make 20 million a year shoddy makes four or five.
So is Jerry going to make the defensive coordinator greatly higher paid than the head coach.

Exactly that means we will probably dumpster dive for the cheapest thing out there but make an exhaustive search doing it to hype things up and give the fans hope only to go bargain basement in the end

This is a false narrative and always been a false narrative he just fired Mike Nolan he fired Matt Eberflu's with lots and lots of money left on their contract he's got many players one of which Jaylen Smith was one of his buddies in the middle of a season the year after he got paid..

he rips and cuts wherever he needs to just because it doesn't satisfy you the Super expert in here on the Internet with all your screen experience,

we get it,

how you'd be thrown off by being a parrot, narratives that get started, they catch on and then they act like that's the truth,

that's not the truth they paid Dan Quinn more money which can't be proven but it's understood to keep them around all three straight years without him leaving for another job which might have been more money than he paid Mike McCarthy..

They don't report coordinators money too much all over the NFL is hard to find accurate information over length of contracts and money,

but Dan Quinn was one of the highest paid defensive coordinators ever, Jerry made sure he stayed longer than he wanted to because he kept throwing money at him, that's the truth but you can say, oh I have proof, i've seen it ,he doesn't want to spend money, where??

show me the cap is like $50 million over right now, and he paid a lot of contracts out over time that were way overpaid, remember he likes his guys he overpaid Zeke, and he overpays Prescott and others...

You know those guys have premium contracts right the only person he didn't pay was Parsons and that really didn't come down to money that was an ego thing both parties blew this thing up because they took it too far But he spends money all the time, over the cap, lots of new contracts,

and somehow because of free agency you think they're cheap no that's just bad philosophy that is not because of money at all.....

Yes he's low risk and free agency that's it But he's pretty much paid Max contracts to so many players and he's paid very well for his coordinators believe it or not because if he was trying to be cheap why not just elevate some spare part I mean why go through the process of hiring new coordinators if you think he's cheap why not just bring a guy up make the special teams guy the new DC or something like that he doesn't do that if he was trying to be cheap he'd only get new green coordinators.

Steady hires veteran coordinators that typically are more highly paid than most because they've been head coaches and they expect more but you have no proof because it is very difficult as I said earlier they don't post too many details about coordinators contracts but I can promise you if he wanted to be cheap he would just elevate this wide receiver coach to be the offensive coordinator Or HC or whatever scenario you want to bring up being cheap would not mean going after veteran coaches..

And he would blow the team up constantly he would not have paid Prescott he would not have paid any of his star players if he was cheap truly cheap He would look more like the Jets they get rid of all their good stuff they constantly hire the wrong guys.

I'm not saying Jerryd a great GM i'm saying you're wrong about him being cheap everybody's wrong about him being cheap this has nothing to do with money this is just bad philosophies and bad decisions at times that's it He's stuck in his old ways and he's had some bad off seasons that doesn't make him cheap....

So is the HC going to hire the DC like all the other teams in the league, or is it Coach Jones's call?

Shotty has his name all over it!!!!!! They mentioned he's involved jerry and stephen are of course, and there's another person that's in charge of the game planning or something I heard the guys on 105.3 mention yesterday
As soon as I saw they were interview several and then more I knew it was shotty.
They will probably be able to do leonhard after sundays game , because denver will likely lose,
but then again they just hired dinucci ! so maybe not.

I’m tired of the Jones’ trite cliches, so “cast a wide net” holds as much legitimacy as “all in” or “hanging around the rim.” This means nothing to me with regards to the scope of their search for a DC.
Moreover, Jerry and Shotty hired Eberflus, so their judgement is already suspect with me. I’m going to assume that the DC hire will be the latest in a long line of uninspired hirings. Jerry will preen and go through all the motions of conducting an expansive search, even though he probably already knows who he will hire.
Whomever comes here will be asked to do more with less given the lack of talent on defense. I know Dallas has the draft and FA, but the FO hasn’t exactly killed it these last few years.

We shall see

@ least it seems like they are doing due diligence this time.....trying to get it right. Question is....Will they get it right?

Getting a bad feeling though they are leaning towards going with a 3-4....and that's a bad call even though it's in vogue right now.

Just amazes me we can't put together personnel to run a 4-3.....Seems like we have struggled to find DEs ...then let them walk out the door. Cutting D-Law was a huge mistake.

I’ll be shocked if it’s anyone but Gannon. He has Jones’ hire written all over him
