San Diego is a team coming off a remarkable season, but they are not an elite team. On paper, Dallas has improved upon last season's 6-10 team, which had many holes left from the 2003 10-6 team.
Overall depth has been upgraded. There are offensive playmakers at RB, TE, WR. If the offensive line can block, our QB will be adequate to move this offense.
Defensively, the defensive liine and secondary are almost (almost) ready for primetime. The linebacker corps is the question mark, but can the Chargers exploit it enough to make a difference?
Placekicker is a black hole of uncertainty. We'll see, but our punter is one of the best in the NFL. Special teams coverage has been inconsistent during the preseason, but is fixable. And we're still searching for a dependable kick returner.
All-in-all, at this stage of the season, we're not solid from top to bottom, but this team is capable of beating San Diego. It's not like we're playing the best team in Pennsylvania, the Steelers, for goodness sake.
