Let me start off by saying. In the beginning I like arod. Thought he was a phenom. He actually was.
As a Yankee fa I was excited to get him. That quickly changed watching this guy blow chunks in the clutch. Then the whole steroids / hgh etc. I was done with him.

Now, as much as we live in a shame on you society. There IS a place for biologicalenhancements in the future of sports. Whether we like it or not.

Hgh - our body created this naturally... Until. It doesn't any longer. So is it wrong to enhance yourself once it's done?

Lance Armstrong - blood enhancement, epo, cortico steroids etc. all produced by the body naturally.

So, get ready. Sports will be super humans. Like it or not. They just have to regulate it and keep it safe.

This may be true, and I am not entirely against all HGH products, but what A-Rod did, if the testimony is true, is well beyond that. He threatened people with death, distributed and tried to bribe witnesses. That's criminal behavior and completely outside of just using PEDs, if true. He should be in jail right now if all of that is true.

ARod and Lance are far more guilty for cover up activities than actual PED usage which is a personal thing.

Much of what Lance took was not naturally produced in the body but I do get the gist of what you are saying.

I would definitely take HGH right now if it were a comparatively priced and legal supplement.
And I'd give it to my kids if they were under a Doctor's care in low doses.
My youngest is a short AAU volleyball player and oldest a medium height AAU basketball player.

They'd both be top prospects in the state with additional height. (provided that didn't affect the rest of their games which if course it could)

It is very difficult to find anyone whose taken legal, medically prescribed HGH that dislikes it.

But steroids are another story. Playing with the body at that level can produce very bad results in many areas as has been well documented.

I do agree with Mark Cuban here though that it should be studied and the true benefits gleaned and utilized for pro sports.

Could you imagine 4 more years of a prime Michael Jordan from just taking HGH?
Very possible that could have occurred.

I think its a pretty complex issue to be honest. In cases like Lionel Messi who received HGH as a child due to his body failing to naturally produce the hormones then that's fine, someone taking them purely to gain an advantage in professional sport isn't but then you have a massive grey area when it comes to health issues amongst active sportsmen/women. My attempt to apply my personal moral code to what is as I said a complex issue so I'm sure others won't necessarily agree.

anyone caught should be banned for life.

In principle I agree. The issue with it is proving that its taken for performance enhancement and not medical reasons. Doctors have been proven to be crooked before, maybe have a system in place that requires any medication being prescribed by an athletes doctor to be signed off on by an independent doctor picked by the governing body? If that system is mandatory and not followed, excepting emergency situations obviously, then it would be fair to make the assumption that they were trying to hide whatever banned substance they have prescribed.
