Jean Strahan leaves courthouse after judge grants her & Giants sack king Michael Strahan divorce.
Giants sack king Michael Strahan is officially a free man - and his ex-wife said goodbye with a parting jab about his recent date with a plastic surgeon.
After a New Jersey judge granted the battling Strahans their divorce, Jean Strahan said her husband is carrying less weight these days, a hint he underwent liposuction.
"I feel about 260 pounds lighter - or is it less?" said Jean Strahan, 41, outside the courthouse.
He may soon may be lighter in the wallet - though the judge didn't immediately rule on how much money Jean Strahan will get. She's seeking $14 million, while her now ex-husband is looking to pay about half that.
Michael Strahan admitted under questioning during the bitter divorce case that he paid $4,000 for the services of a prominent Manhattan plastic surgeon.
He has avoided saying what he paid for, but liposuction is one of the specialties of Dr. Kenneth Rothaus.
Jean Strahan proclaimed herself ready to start a "new chapter in life" without her football great ex-hubby. "I'm starting that chapter as a single mom with two beautiful girls," she said, referring to the couple's 20-month-old twins, Isabella and Sophie.
She told Essex County Family Court Judge James Convery that she plans to keep her married name, a revelation that spurred Michael Strahan to roll his eyes and snort in mock disbelief.
"I like to have the same name as the girls," Jean Strahan said, citing "continuity."
The willowy blond, who wore a chocolate-brown Gucci outfit, added that she is hoping her kids will never suffer any ill effects from the bitter split.
"I hope that there will be enough love that we will overcome it," she said.
Michael Strahan, who is preparing to start training camp for the Giants, had nothing to say as he left with buddy Dana Smith, twin brother of TV doc Ian Smith.
The divorce ruling capped a trial in which the couple battled over her big spending and his infidelity.
The trial exploded when Jean Strahan claimed her husband left her to lead an "alternative lifestyle" with Ian Smith after moving out of their Montclair, N.J., estate. She later said she didn't mean to suggest they're gay, just philanderers.
She also charged that the football player used a camera hidden in a clock radio to peep on one of her sisters. The sister was never named.
But yesterday, one of her sisters, Denise Muggli - who once lived with the couple - testified about their finances.
She detailed a filing system she created for Michael Strahan's financial documents, but claimed she never told her sister that the couple's joint accounts contained millions in assets.
Convery will still have months to sift through the competing financial claims in the nasty two-month divorce case.
Jean Strahan says her Big Blue ex owes at least $14 million under the terms of a prenuptual agreement signed before their 1999 wedding. He counters that she agreed to scrap that deal and deserves no more than $7 million.
In the meantime, Convery officially dissolved the Strahans' marriage.
The judge granted Michael Strahan's request for a divorce on the grounds of extreme cruelty and Jean's on the same grounds - plus the athlete's infidelity.
"It's a sad situation," said Jean Strahan, who walked away from the courthouse side-by-side with her sister. "We didn't have to let it get to this level."
