Your gonna love this, Some teams have said that the skins may be UNABLE to mathamatically get under this years salary cap! Bring out the knives!

:laugh2: :laugh2: :laugh2: :laugh2: :laugh2: :laugh2: :laugh2: :laugh2:

What happens if a team doesn't comply with the salary cap?
No team has ever gone over the salary cap, so this is a bit of an unknown. However, teams have been fined in the past for attempts to circumvent the cap. ESPN.com contributor and former Miami Dolphins GM Rick Spielman says NFL commissioner Paul Tagliabue has wide latitude in fining teams -- and even individual team executives -- or stripping draft picks for failure to comply with the salary cap. With some teams in dire cap shape, we could see sooner than later just how wide the commissioner's latitude is. The Washington Commanders are one team to watch in this regard, since some other clubs that have studied the Commanders' cap closely have suggested Washington cannot mathematically get into compliance.

If Tagliabue deems necessary, he'll just void their contracts until they are under the cap.

While I don't think Snyder would like being fined, I think he would go over the cap if he could if all it resulted in was a fine or even draft picks (since they usually trade away their picks).

He obviously knows what can happen and that's why he's restructuring contracts and getting set to cut about 12 players tomorrow with possibly more to come.

Watch there be an exception of some sort be made because of the unusual circumstances...

Ya know, the league will fine them a 5th round pick or something like that...

Tags is a former Commanders season ticketholder. He'll probably slap them on the wrist and let them go about their business.

Snyder: Um, hey Gibby. Do you think we can suit up some of those high-priced assistant coaches?

Gibbs: Why Danny Boy?

Snyder: We have to cut the entire team to get under the cap.

The NFL favoring the Skins. Oh my George Allen! What will Extremeskins do? They'll lose half their traffic if they can't start conspiracy threads about the refs and NFL having it out for them! ;)

Personally I think they should loose all draft picks this year AND they are able to play all games but must forfeit them all reguardless of the score. Esentially they would be playin with an illeagal team.

I was thinking the same thing. If that happens, I hope Jerry goes crazy and stops supporting the current CBA and rallys for a cap-less NFL.

It's time for the Commanders to pay the piper.

Many veterans on the Skins have already restructured (I'm guessing CP, LA, Thomas, Jansen, Samuels, Springs) according to Gibbs; the deals have not been announced except for Brunell.

The Commanders will cut a few reserves (Harris, Bowen, Noble, Hall, Raymer) and maybe Renaldo Wynn and will be a few million under the cap.

Where the Commanders will be hurt is in free agency. With a CBA extension, they would have been very active.

This link actually has some very interesting info. about the various questions surrounding the CBA (or lack thereof). http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2351462

This particular paragraph sticks out:

Actually the special master ruling may make the restrucuring of the contracts much harder. Kind of changes the landscape.

If that's the case then why are there reports that it will be difficult for the skins to get under the cap? Must not have restructured that much. Those restructures were also done with the assumption that there would be another CBA.

Well, look on the bright side, the Commanders should still be able to keep Brunell and Santana Moss. Couple that with the 9 fans out of the stands that they'll have on the line and they'll still be able to run their bread and butter play - the Hail Mary!
