We control our own destiny. Which is as good as one could realistically hope.
We have to win at least 3 of our last 5 games to be at least pretty sure of making the playoffs. We SHOULD beat the Skins, Rams and KC. Also should beat the Giants. Carolina is probably a loss. 10-6 will almost certainly get us the wildcard; 11-5 will probably win the division.
BP is probably right now working on how to protect Bledsoe better- he was being constantly pressured on Thursday. The shotgun is probably going to be used more on passing downs. That gets Bledsoe in position a lot faster to make the throw and max protection is not such a priority.
The simple fact is that our O line is underperforming and that is that.
Our running game will continue to be spotty due to poor blocking.
So the passing game is going to have to step up.
Luckily, our D is really solid and should keep us in all the games. Its up to the O to score enough to win.
Kicking- hopefully it will improve at least SOME.
Getting Crayton back should help. JJ should be pretty close to 100% by the giants game. Though with the lously run blocking, how much we are going to get on the ground is probably not much.
OFFSEASON: the O line will obviously get some attention. Center, tackle, maybe guard as well. RIvera has NOT been what was advertised. Johnson is looking more and more like a journeyman. Pettiti- should improve with a whole offseason but still.... Peterman is going to have to show something- but I see BP looking more and more for some vets if possible.
FS: Berriault will get his shot, but look for BP to look around there as well.
LB: more bodies to use in rotation- maybe draft.
The Backfield, offensive and defensive are ok- though getting areal blocking FB would be NICE.
WR: I do not see any real moves there- Price is probably gone.
And then comes the REAL NEED FOR NEXT YEAR- A REAL KICKER!!!
Pay Vanderjagt whatever it takes to get him.
