Jones has played 14 career games. In those games, he has had three monster performances: 150 yards, 4.5 ypc, 2 TD; 198 yards, 6.6 ypc, 3 TD; and 149 yards, 5.9 ypc, 1 TD. In his other 11 games, he's gone for 745 yards, 3.31 ypc, and 4 TD. Julius sure gets a lot of benefit of the doubt for a guy who has three skins on the wall. When it's all said and done, Julius will probably be closer to a Thomas Jones type than a legitimate franchise back. I think too many people are assuming he's going to be an All Pro based on a handful of games last year.

Jones is looking more Eddie George-like all the time. I am not currently sold on him as a franchise back. I'm not sold on MB III either. He is pretty pedestrian as well. Thompson is not getting carries for whatever reason. Maybe we need to acquire a franchise RB through free agency or the draft.

I agree with your assesment. But JJ is a very good scatback and as his catching ability gets better, he will become like Westbrook.

Jones >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Barber

I trust Jones.

He is tougher up the middle. Barber is the one that flies back when hit. Jones seems much more explosive now and if we feed him the ball, he will be back to his old self. The Eagles just stacked the box today and shut down everything.

So 1300 yards over 14 games to start career is bad, hmm.... u guys put these guys up their then tear them down when they have a couple bad games... go figure, I'm glad u guys not Cowboys fans, 1st place, never satisfied. I think JJ is the key to us going far, he is solid in the run, had good hands and can pick up blitzes, so can MBIII. we have 3 young good RB, nuff said

Right now if one of the two has the right to be called the man its Jones. I personally don't think either has. Barber gashed two medicore teams for yards, but seems to have a small case of fumblitis. You can't average putting the ball on the carpet once a game and expect Parcells to start you.

Jones I think has better speed and better power. I suspect they basically have a 50/50 split again next weekend, but probably see mostly Jones against Denver.

If your really saying that you think Jones has the potential to be like Eddie George, I'll take that any day of the week. People around here only seem to remember last year and forget the borderline hall of fame career before it. If Jones ends up #16 on the all time rushing list I think pretty much everyone here would be excstatic.

You people that think JJhas more power than MB3, are seriously in denial. JJ is faster but he does not have more power and strength.

JJ does not have the body type that can consistently carry the ball a lot of times over a whole season.
He is not a natural 200 pounder, look at his legs. Think back to Emmitt, he was a natural 200 lb back, look at his legs. MB3's legs are thicker than JJ's, he is a natural 200 and then some back. TT's has thicker legs than JJ.

All that fumble will do is get Barber some words from BP. Barber will start Sunday.

I like MB3 but its time to start JJ again and get this running game back on track. That could have been a costly fumble by MB3.
I agree.

Barber is still a rookie.

Maybe he can earn it eventually but for now, I miss JJ.

We have 2 good backs that can both run the ball and pick up blitzes. I say use them both and reserve judgment until the end of the season. We do need JJ to stay healthy though.

Chad, you do realize that even if you take away those three huge games (which account for 18 percent of his career games and 29 percent of his career rushing attempts) BUT you still include two games when he barely played (today and when he got hurt last year) and another game when he played only a half, he STILL averages 67.7 yards per game and has NEVER been held under 57 yards in a game he's started?

Let's see, 14 career games (more like 12 games of playing time) and 1,242 career rushing yards. The only thing separating him from being well on his way to being a franchise back is the injuries he's suffered.

And for a few comparisons, here are the first 14 career games for other "franchise" backs, compared to Julius' first 14 games --

Julius Jones -- 1,242 yards

LaDainian Tomlinson -- 1,053 yards

Shaun Alexander (I'll even skip his rookie season; this is from his second year, when he finally became a starter) -- 1,132 yards

Tiki Barber (again, skip his first five seasons and go to his breakout sixth season) -- 1,123 yards

Clinton Portis -- 1,228 yards

Curtis Martin -- 1,264 yards

Jamal Lewis -- 1,186 yards

Ricky Williams -- 1,018 yards

Edgerrin James -- 1,396 yards

Willis McGahee -- 947 yards

Corey Dillon -- 942 yards

Fred Taylor -- 1,152 yards

And the BEST 14-game stretch of Thomas Jones' entire career, starting in the middle of his fifth season -- 1,150 yards

Even with the three games Julius has been limited in, his 14-game career is ALREADY better than ANYTHING Thomas Jones has ever done.

You have a serious leg fetish going on there.

This season or last?

Because the only one flopping when hitting the hole this year is Jones.

If Jones comes back then great but at this moment my faith is with BArber.

Julius Jones has done nothing to warrant so much positive attention.

Neither has Marion Barber.

None of our RBs have shown anything but some promise. JuJo was showing a lot more promise last year then he's shown this year.

I kept watching Westbrook bounce runs to the outside and was thinking, "Why don't our RBs do that when there's nothing but a pile in front of them?"

I don't know why but our RBs refuse to pop any runs outside. Sometimes you have to let your instincts take over instead of running into the back of an offensive lineman. At least TRY to make a play.

IMO neither one of our RBs are "Great". Not at this time anyway. Barber can do some things that JuJo can't do and vice versa, but JuJo hasn't been doing the things he CAN do this year. When he has a chance to cutback or pop it outide he hasn't done it. That's not even debatable. I have no doubt in my mind that he CAN do something positive when he cuts back or pops them outside (cuz he has the ability to do so) but he just hasn't done it.

Hopefully it's just a sophomore slump.
