I don't think so.

1. One of the most amazing plays was on our first td drive when Barber slipped down making his cut...I'm not sure I've ever seen a guy bounce up that fast on a slip...he still got back to the 1 and almost in when I thought we were looking at a 3 yard loss...that allowed us to run it again and he stuck it into the endzone with his usual toughness.

2. The long run on the draw was incredibly heady for a rookie...he kept using his blocking, making subtle cuts, working his way to the sideline, and instead of powering inside for maybe another 5-7 yards, slipped out of bounds to save the clock.

3. His pass blocking may be better than Emmitt Smith's...he not only gets the job done, he rushes to the spot and carries the contact away from the QB...his pass protection is incredible, not just correct.

Julius has incredible moves in the open field, as we saw last season, and he has more speed than Barber, but I think Barber is going to be on the field more than Julius regardless of who starts due to what he brings in short yardage and the passing game.

Spot on!!!! Did you see the block he gave a Philly defender on the long pass play to Price or was it the pass play to TG? I forget. Regardless, he took the linebacker out and drove him deep behind Drew. Great blocker.

On our first TD drive, when Barber went down, he was up so fast that I didn't have time to think that we may have taken a lost on the play. He also runs harder than JJ does or should I say with more purpose. If he had a tad more burst on his runs JJ could kiss his job goodbye.

I didn't see any holes did any of you? We have three unproven backs but the OLine has some say so to how we do. Remember Emmitt great back but some of those holes were so huge, I like what Madden said when the DLine is three yards in the backfield consistenly it's hard to do anything. Jones has two or three long runs wiped out because of the OLine

I will probably get ripped for this, but this is my opinion, and only an opinion
I think Julius Jones has lost his job, the times he had an opportnity to play
he did not do much finshed with 8 carries for 16 yards......and wasnt even in the game on the touchdown drive or at the end of the game while the cowboys tried to run out the clock. Baber is a stud and even though he didnt come up with a hundred yards he can block and catch and do it all.. look for julius to ask out the door... IN BARBER WE TRUST

Studs DO NOT give fans a heart attack with a fumble while running down the game clock.

We need all three of our RB's to accomplish our goal of winning the Super Bowl

i cant help but admit, we have a RB controversy brewing in big D, Barber started the game, and was in on all the crucial moments in the game. and i gotta admit Barber runs harder, catches better, and can flatout blowup Blitzers, its going to be interesting to see how this plays out.

We had 58 total rushing yards... I can't say either did much of anything...

Does not hold the same weight as a QB controversy, many teams use more than 1 RB add Dallas to that list. I think Dallas has 2 very fine RB’s and both are very capable of having big games. I love having both guys!!!

...at one point in the game, Barber had 9 carries for 12 yards.

And the fumble was BAD news.

It'll be the committee approach for the rest of the year.

Sorry, but his fumble at the end of the game probably lost Barber the starting position. Had the Beagles recovered the fumble, today would be a different day. I don't see Barber starting next week...

I know... We were getting punished on both sides of the lines last night.

We're so ready to proclaim this guy or that guy as THE guy, that you can't claim either. Neither could do anything last night, so how can you proclaim one guy is better than the other based on last night's performance. I'm not ready to annoint either at this point. Let the guys show and prove...

Neither have proved anything THIS year... JMO

All I can say is I like both of these guys and I'm happy to have them on the team. Who starts or who comes in off the bench is no big deal to me. I watch other teams who have 2 good backs and it always seem to help them especially when 1 gets injured, you have a guy to go to who has had the playing time. I wish others would stop the bickering of who is best and just accept that we have 2 quality RB on this team.

Agreed... we've got depth and that's a huge thing, especially after what we had last year...

BTW, I wasn't saying I wasn't happy w/them, it's just so annoying to see all these JJ better than Barber or Barber better than JJ threads...

Let's just enjoy the ride...

I know you were not saying that I was referring to some other post I have read on the topic.

We have two pretty good young backs, and a questionable OL.

It was good to see JJ on the field again.

Why do so many want to choose one over the other ?

Neither look like rushing champions right now.

We need to address the OL in the off-season though.

I kinda noticed something about Jones last night...Call me crazy but...

If you all recall last year, JJ had more sucess with counters and delay draws. Plays he could sit back, wait for the blocking to develope and then burst through the hole. It was his acceleration and moves in the open field that really excite me...us ?

This year, JJ seems to be hitting the hole hard and fast and running into a D or even O player and falling down. No use of his vision and acceleration because he is running to were the hole should be, just as BP coached him. Its just not always there, or just a little off.

I know I'm not the 1st guy here to state this, it was just really apparent to me last night.

JJ still has the acceleration and the moves, I would tweak the play calling and even line him up a little deeper in the backfeild. This kid has talent.

And this is not a knock against MB III. I think this kid is a great talent too.

I agree with you Jarv. In the games that I have seen this year, I have not seen JJ run a single draw or counter. Maybe it's the injuries but I am still waiting to see the explodition through a hole from him. While I am happy to have MB, he doesn't have that same burst. The burst that make you believe that at any time he could take it 60 yards.

Peace

One thing is clear- no back is going to look good unless the O LINE GETS OFF THE CRAPPER AND STARTS BLOCKING CONSISTENTLY!!!!

You got it, to run through the hole you need a hole to run through to start with.

I still am PO'ed that we havent run any draws. THe one we did run we got like 25 yards. IMO we should run draws quite often on 2nd and longs while spreading out the defensive backs. Our three running backs are shifty and have speed so why not run a play for them instead of a Jamal Lewis type RB.
