Here's Walt on with Galloway and Company talking about the Cowboys current situation...

Walt Garrison talks discipline

It's the same old story, but it's all very true. This team as it's set up now seems to lack leadership.

I love the idea about the '***** meeting'.

Might be a little volatile at first with his current group, but in the end maybe these guys need to air it all out if they want to get over all this BS and move forward.

I loved it when Walt told Rany G. that the idea that Meredith didn't "give a damn" was wrong. That he (Garrison) had never meet a more competitive person. I thought it was very interesting when Walt said that Landry would have never put up with the team chemistry being harmed by any one player (Walt used Duane Thomas as an example) Thought it was interesting that Walt said he felt Newman and Barber could have played in Garrison's day.
I like Walt saying Baber was one "tough son off a gun!" :laugh2:

Walt is the man:bow:

Yes sir... Always love hearing Walt. Nice interview today, too.

Kind of surprised he mentioned Newman with Witten and Barber, but that was awesome to hear.

One of the national shows was talking the other day about the old Celtics having these ***** sessions, too. But ask Hugh Douglas how TO would take those.

But I wonder if anyone heard him say that for Landry, it made no difference how good you were if you were causing problems in the locker room. I guess he didn't stop to ask who was going to replace all those stats, or where else he'd get a Pro Bowl back like that.

I will never, ever tire of listening to Walt Garrison. In fact, I may play that again.

Garrison is one of the best dudes to ever wear the Star. Wish he was young enough to play now so he could knock the hell out of some of these punks.

Its why Landry finally traded Duane THomas. As good a back as he was- and frankly at that time he was probably in the top 5 in the NFL- he was just too disruptive.

Walt Garrison is from my town...Lewisville, Texas. He is in a bunch of commercials down here, radio and cable. In fact, last summer, i walked into his tobacco shop in old town lewisville. Just ridiculous amounts of pictures with him and other Cowboys, rodeo cowboys, and celebrities.

I personally, have never met him. But, before its too late, i will meet him. His son went to my high school, he lives just a few miles from my house...i'm bound to meet him haha.

With all of that being said, anything Walt says is right!

If anyone ever gets around to Lewisville, you should check out his shop, all of his whittlings are on display. It would really be worth your while.

Here's to 2009

That isn't true at all.

He had a great rookie season and they tried to get rid of him because of his disruptive ways. They traded him to NE and he immediately had trouble with their coach so they voided the trade.

He was only 23 years old and you are telling me Landry knew he was done as a player?

When he came back he barely spoke to his teammates or coaches the entire 1971 season and had a great season. And they won the SB that year.

Then they traded him to San Diego after that season.

He just never got it together after that.

It was a very disturbing site to see Thomas and Calvin Hill wearing Commanders jerseys :(

The sad think about Duane Thomas it was all over money, he got screwed over by an agent and begged Tex Schramm for help. All it would have taken was about $10-20k and all the BS would have been avoided, but Tex was a cheap SOB.

Walt makes it sound so easy. (I agree with him.)

However, I must admit that the professional athlete now is a different animal than the professional athlete during Walt's time. Sure, they may have been bmoc, but they didn't have everything handed to them the way kids these days do. As a whole, the star athlete who goes on the NFL has lived a life that would warp just about anyone by the age of 21....

Like everybody else flapping their lips on the issue...

Garrison said "TO's doing this, TO's doing that" but what specifically is "this" and "that" ? People say he's a cancer... how, specifically?

He said specific things about Romo but not about Owens...

Here, maybe you haven't seen this thread:

If you dismiss it as hearsay, that's up to you. I just wanted to give you a few of the specifics you asked for.

Well yeah, but he was implying Landry knew he was 'done' and that's the reason he got rid of him.

We may have seem him have a great 10 year career if he could have stayed in Dallas with a winning team.

Very sad story that he never lived up to his talent.

Try re-reading the post with an emphasis on what is not said and what is presumed. I found no specifics...

How did a "rediculous assertion" gain steam? Owens do it? Is that what is ment by "flexing his muscles?" Nope, try sports writers, radio/tv talking heads and the fans themselves. Again, it offers no specifics on the "this" and "that" of what Owens is accused to have done to become a "cancer." It's pure speculation and assumption.

Take this thing with Witten. If Witten didn't snitch, why hasn't he just been a man about it and come out, end all the speculation, shove it in Owens' face and say "It wasn't me!" To me, that makes Witten a poor teammate; somebody untrustworthy. But that's just my own speculation and assumption. See how it works?
